Are you thinking you might need a bit of in home help?

If you answer "true" to any of the following scenarios, it’s time to consider seeking in-home help.
• Friends or family frequently suggest you should get help.
• You are:
- providing care from a distance
- balancing work, your own health, personal needs and caregiving duties
- caring for someone around the clock, seven days a week and can feel the toll this constant vigilance and “on duty” status—day and night— is taking significant toll.
• Your loved one can’t prepare meals, get dressed, toilet, shower, eat or walk alone and safely anymore.
• You have no time to destress or take care of yourself
• You are caring for someone who needs to be transferred from bed to wheelchair, or helped up from a chair. Over time, as you wear down this increases your risk for back injuries.
• Your loved one is living with symptoms of dementia and you face additional challenges, such as difficult behaviors, wandering, or unsafe actions like leaving stove burners on.
• You do not have time to handle shopping, banking, or attending to your own medical needs, increasing your risk for stress-related health issues.
• Tasks such as cooking and housekeeping are falling behind or being accomplished with great difficulty or are not being done at all.
Hiring help can ease your responsibilities, allowing you time for personal needs like errands, appointments, rest, or socializing. For caregivers who work or live far away, assistance provides peace of mind knowing care is ongoing and we can be your eyes and ears. Sometimes, care recipients respond better to their helpers and you can preserve your family role, find renewed energy and encouragement.

💛 How to Make the Most of Your In-Home Visits: Personal Care

When a caregiver assists with personal care, it’s normal to feel a little vulnerable. The right approach can make the experience comfortable and empowering for both you and your caregiver:

🛁 Communicate openly. Let your caregiver know your preferences, whether it’s how you like to bathe, dress, or groom. Small details make a big difference.
👕 Be specific about routines. If you have a preferred schedule for meals, medications, or hygiene, share it clearly. Written notes can be helpful.
🤗 Maintain dignity. Your caregiver is there to support you, not take over. Ask questions, give feedback, and share how they can make tasks easier while respecting your privacy.
🧘 Express comfort levels. If certain tasks or positions feel uncomfortable, speak up. Your caregiver can adjust techniques or provide equipment to help.
💡 Stay engaged. Participating as much as you safely can promotes independence and keeps routines familiar.

📞 Need adjustments? If personal care needs or routines change, or you feel the caregiver isn’t the right fit, contact our office at 352-597-4084. We’re here to ensure your comfort and safety.

💚 Health Matters is committed to compassionate care that respects your independence, comfort, and dignity, every visit, every day.

💛 How to Make the Most of Your In-Home Visits: Companionship

Starting in-home care for the first time can bring a mix of relief and anxiety - for both you and your caregiver.
Remember, your caregiver is meeting you for the first time too!

Here are some simple ways to make those first visits positive and productive for everyone:

🌷 Take your time. Don’t rush your first meeting. Warm smiles and introductions go a long way.
💬 Start a conversation. Ask questions and share a little about yourself — your likes, dislikes, or daily routine. Finding common ground builds comfort and trust.
🏡 Give a quick home tour. Point out areas related to care tasks like meal prep, laundry, or walking routes.
🗒 Set clear expectations. If you’d like help with walks, light cleaning, or companionship, discuss it early. A short written list helps everyone stay on the same page.
🔎 Ask about a home safety check. It’s a great way to identify small changes that can prevent falls or make life easier.
🤝 Be flexible. It can take a few visits for everyone to settle into a rhythm.

📞 If the match doesn’t feel right, let us know. Sometimes personalities or routines simply differ and that’s okay. Our office is always here to help find the best fit: 352-597-4084

💚 At Health Matters, we believe in creating caring, respectful relationships that help you feel comfortable, supported, and valued in your own home.

🌿 Evaluating the Need for In-Home Care
Caring for a loved one is an act of love but it can also be overwhelming.
If any of the following feel true, it may be time to consider extra in-home support:

✅ Friends or family often suggest you should get help.
✅ You’re providing care from a distance or juggling work, your own health, and caregiving.
✅ You’re caring for someone around the clock and feeling physically or emotionally drained.
✅ Your loved one needs help with meals, bathing, dressing, walking, or toileting.
✅ You have no time left for self-care, errands, or rest.
✅ You assist with heavy lifting or transfers and your back feels it.
✅ Dementia symptoms make daily care unsafe or unpredictable (wandering, leaving stove burners on, etc.).
✅ Housekeeping, cooking, and daily tasks are falling behind.

💚 Getting help isn’t giving up, it’s making sure both you and your loved one are cared for.

Professional in-home caregivers can:
✨ Reduce your stress and prevent burnout
✨ Offer safety, consistency, and companionship
✨ Give you peace of mind, whether you live nearby or miles away
✨ Allow you to focus on being family again, not “on duty” 24/7

📞 Health Matters is here to help with compassionate, dependable in-home support tailored to your family’s needs.

Our Story

We at Health Matters are a unique company due to the fact that none of us our computer specialized but we do have the great gift of caregiving. All the team members here are the foundation of the company and I always say that God is the CEO. Not to say that we have not had our challenges over the years seeking correct caregivers with their clients, but hard work and caring has made Health Matters who it is today.

We are a small company and get most of our referrals through word of mouth that way we do not have the overhead of advertising and our able to offer competitive rates. The office staff is truly sincere in serving the clients and caregivers, and try to respond to their needs in a timely manner. This business is like a family and encourage anyone to call or stop by for a chat. We at Health Matters would love to get to know you and let you get to know our company so you can pass our name to others.

Thanks for reading this small summary of our business and God Bless
