Have you ever thought about the energy of your body? The chakras are our bodies energy system. They can help balance our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. They are not just some mysterious woowoo theories, its science. Our energy field has been scientifically studied and proven to exist and many hospitals regularly employ reiki practitioners now to assist in the healing and recovery of patients because they understand the relevancy of the energetics of the body and wellbeing.
So, let us dig in a little bit. What are the chakras?
The chakras are energy centers in the body; there are seven main ones that run along the spine from the base of the spin to the top of the head. They are like mini spinning vortex's of energy. Their energetic frequencies match the colors starting from the root going up of red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, indigo and purple, together they make up the spectrum of light.
Each chakra is associated with specific qualities and functions of the body, and they work together to maintain balance and harmony within the body. When the energy of the chakra gets off balance, either through emotional trauma, physical trauma or being around negativity, it can play havoc on our body, our mind, and our emotions. In some cases, that off balance energy can start to show physical signs of dis-ease. This is why it is so important to keep our energies balanced and optimized.
The first chakra is known as the root chakra, is located at the base of the spine. It represents stability, grounding, and our connection to the physical world. When this chakra is balanced, we feel secure, confident, and grounded. When this chakra is unbalanced, we can feel insecure, unconfident, ungrounded and fearful.
The second chakra is known as the sacral chakra or belly chakra, it is located in the lower abdomen, below the belly button. It is associated with creativity, passion, and our ability to experience pleasure. When this chakra is balanced, we feel inspired, creative, and emotionally connected. When this chakra is unbalanced, we can feel uninspired, uncreative, and emotionally disconnected.
The third chakra is known as the solar plexus chakra, its location is in the upper abdomen. It represents life force energy, personal power, confidence, and self-esteem. When this chakra is balanced, we feel empowered, motivated, and in control of our lives. When this chakra is unbalanced, we can feel disempowered, unmotivated, and not in control of our lives.
The fourth chakra is called the heart chakra; it is located in the center of the chest. It is associated with love, compassion, and emotional well-being. When this chakra is balanced, we feel loved, empathy, and a deep sense of connection with others. When this chakra is unbalanced, we feel unloved, anger, and disconnected from others.
The fifth chakra is called the throat chakra; it is in the throat area. It represents communication, self-expression, and the ability to speak our truth. When this chakra is balanced, we can express ourselves clearly and authentically. When this chakra is unbalanced, we can’t express ourselves clearly and authentically, we may not speak our truth or we may voice hurtful communication with others.
The sixth chakra is called the third eye chakra; it is located between the eyebrows. It is associated with intuition, insight, and spiritual awareness. When this chakra is balanced, we have a clear vision, heightened intuition, and a deep connection to our inner wisdom. When this chakra is balanced, we do not see clearly or have brain fog, low or no intuition, and a deep disconnection to our inner wisdom.
The seventh chakra is known as the crown chakra, its location is at the top of the head. It represents our spiritual connection, higher consciousness, and divine wisdom. When this chakra is balanced, we experience a sense of oneness, spiritual awakening, and a deep connection to the universe. When this chakra is unbalanced, we experience a sense of separation, spiritual stagnation, and a feeling of being lost.
Understanding and balancing the 7 chakras can have a profound impact on our overall well-being. By working with these energy centers, we can enhance our physical health, stability, and growth. Whether you are just beginning or have been working with the chakras, remember to approach it with an open mind, open heart, and a willingness to learn.
