Here, I am 72+ hours into a full fast. I began preparing for it on Monday, 9/2, by eliminating meat and processed foods which also reduced my caloric intake. I weighed in at 215.6 lbs, and my blood pressure was 186/105. I have a family history of hypertension and have neglected to consider that fact in my lifestyle choices. I had blood work done and everything was normal, even my nutritrient levels. Although my body fat percentage is in a healthy range, my weight is not. This is what is contributing to my elevated blood pressure. The purpose of the fast was to see if my dietary choices were the cause, but my BP has only gotten slightly better since beginning the full fast. I am still hypertensive. My weight is now 207.6 lbs as of the 72 hour mark on this fast. That's an 8 lbs loss in 13 days. Throughout the fast I have battled cravings, which were only mental. I have not been really hungry. I've also focused on adequate hydration of my body by drinking 8-10 oz of water every hour from 9 am to 6 pm. I plan on breaking the fast after I have labs done on Monday morning. At that time I would be more than 84 hours into this fast. I will break the fast with some fruit and berries. Overall, I feel great and would recommend this to everyone and to do at least twice per year. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments.
