This muscle functions during standing. It’s a standing muscle that only works when you don’t want to stand anymore. Or you want to bend the knee. You can’t do it without The next time you think of standing, or reading the words I stand with: think POPLITEUS!

This muscle is so cute and I love it’s shape. It’s tiny and sometimes bullied by the big old hamstrings and the calves sometimes.

But popliteus is actually so unique it does one action that the hamstrings and calves can not do. It functions in the initial bending of the knee.

Treatment of popliteus is very specific too. You need to use neuromuscular reeducation very often. Not for politeus. But for the hamstrings.

You see the hamstrings get brainwashed and get so stubborn in their ways. They think they know better. But they don’t. Good thing DR T is here to show them what to do and how to act.

Don’t get mad at me if I poke you hamstrings. It’s for you’re own good. 😃

I have been using pac man as a cue for quite some time now as a cue with many of my long term athletic patients such as



“Stacking” your posture is something that is easy to understand but hard to implement. Even harder to do DURING MOTIONS!

The athletes I @@@ have all made serious gains in their lifts and the main reason has been the quest for closing Pac Man’s mouth.

I drew the best pac man on a screen shot of a photo I am seeing flood my feed lately. Next time you hear 👂 fix your you know what it means and you can do it yourself.

We hear and see ice baths are great for you on social media and TV shows. Here’s a recent scientific study that shows that (for the average joe,) it actually is not as good as you might think it is. Do you do cold plunges? Everyone I know, swears by them.

FACT:
Cold plunges are TOTALLY different than ice baths.

Let’s discuss that ACL RECONSTRUCTION really quickly!
The ACL or interior cruciate ligament is required to be able to plant the foot and change direction or to decelerate or slow down from sprinting to coming to a complete stop as quickly as possible when that ligament is disrupted. A person will feel extreme instability and then s/he will buckle and fall.

(pain is not always an indication the actual testing is what proves whether or not a person has a detached or ruptured ACL)
It’s atypical for an athlete to get back before 9 months. It’s possible. But atypical.

Grindem et al (2016) & Beischer et al (2020) showed increased risk of 2nd ACL injuries with return to sport before 9 months.

Better strength and function at 6 months post-op saw a trend of HIGHER rates of 2nd ACL injuries (Bodkin et al 2022 & Sousa et al 2017).

King et al (2019) and Costley et al (2021) showed that between 6-9 months post op ACLR athletes still have biomechanical deficits during performance tests such as vertical jump and change of direction testing.

Feller et al (2021) showed no difference between those that returned to sport BEFORE or AFTER 12 months post op; but how early before 12 months is too early regarding return to sport? 5-8 months? 9-12 months?

Aim for at least 9 months post op for return to sport especially with young athletes and non-professional athletes.
