“Vegas Strong” is a rallying cry that emerged in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history on October 1, 2017, to represent the city’s resilience and unity. The phrase symbolized the Las Vegas community’s collective strength as they came together to grieve, heal, and move forward. At approximately 10:05 p.m. on the final night, as headliner Jason Aldean performed, a shooter on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel began firing into the crowd of over 22,000 attendees. The relentless gunfire lasted for about 10 minutes.The attack killed 60 people and wounded more than 400 others from gunfire and shrapnel, with hundreds more injured in the ensuing panic.
