Why we feed the birds (and, truthfully, a few other critters) at Blissful Waters — and the short answer is: because they were here first.
I love our little wildlife community. We get blue jays, cardinals, and these absolutely enormous hawks that sweep across the sky like they own the place. Then there are the ravens, bold as ever — they’ll waddle right up to the door and demand food like they’re paying rent.
In the summer, we even leave out water for the squirrels, bless their hearts. They’re sweet little things, just trying to survive as their wild spaces shrink. And yes — we’ve had our share of surprise visitors, too.
One night I walked out late and came face to face — maybe four feet apart — with a skunk. I screamed, he ran, and somehow neither of us got sprayed. Probably because, well… I do feed him.
There’s something special about seeing all these creatures thriving around Blissful Waters. It reminds me that healing doesn’t just happen inside — it happens all around us. Whether it’s people in our float tanks or birds in the trees, we’re all just looking for a little peace, a little nourishment, and a safe place to land.
