Did you know? If you’re 70½ or older, you can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to support a nonprofit you care about!

A QCD can satisfy all or part of your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) and may lower your taxable income. QCD’s could potentially create tax savings with no need to itemize your deductions. It’s a simple, impactful way to give.

Did you know that by donating appreciated stock to a qualified charity that you are actually giving significantly more than if you sold the stock and then made a cash donation of the after-tax proceeds?

By donating appreciated stock, you have held longer than a year, you avoid capital gains tax AND you are still able to deduct the full fair-market value of the donated stock from your income taxes as allowed by the IRS.

Donating appreciated stock is not a difficult process, so as you speak with your financial adviser about end-of-year giving, consider a gift of appreciated stock to Methodist Retirement Communities or an MRC community.

Charles and Alex had worked hard to adequately save for a comfortable retirement. When it came to their future, they had every box checked: good jobs, mortgage free home, growing 401K, and good health.
That is, until one by one, each item was taken from them by a series of unforeseen events.
