Ever sat on the couch, screaming at yourself internally to just get up and fold the laundry or open the laptop, but your body just... won't?
That isn't laziness. Laziness is choosing not to do something and feeling completely fine about it. This is task paralysis, and it is a core feature of executive dysfunction.
For neurodivergent brains (and brains that are completely fried by chronic stress), the pathway between ""knowing what to do"" and ""actually doing it"" can get easily blocked. When a task feels too big, too vague, or too demanding, your nervous system hits the brakes to protect you from overwhelm.
The next time you are stuck in paralysis, shrink the demand until it feels ridiculously easy. Don't tell yourself to ""clean the kitchen."" Tell yourself to ""put exactly one fork in the dishwasher."" Sometimes, removing the pressure of the whole project is the only way to jumpstart your brain's engine.
At GHCS, we help you find practical strategies that work with your brain, not against it.
