Ayurveda describes three “doshas,” or pattern types. Everyone has all three—what matters is what’s most dominant for you, and what’s currently out of balance.
Vata (air + space)
When balanced, Vata supports creativity, lightness, and adaptability. When out of balance, you might feel:
anxious, scattered, overwhelmed
tired-but-wired
light sleep, waking easily
irregular digestion, bloating
Vata-balancing tends to look like: warmth, routine, steadiness, earlier nights, simple meals.
Pitta (fire + water)
When balanced, Pitta supports focus, drive, and strong digestion. When out of balance, you might feel:
irritability, impatience, “on edge”
overheating, inflammation, heartburn
intense hunger or cravings
trouble winding down mentally
Pitta-balancing tends to look like: cooling practices, less intensity, more softness, boundaries, earlier wind-down.
Kapha (earth + water)
When balanced, Kapha supports stability, calm, and endurance. When out of balance, you might feel:
heaviness, sluggishness, low motivation
congestion, puffiness
emotional “stuckness”
slower digestion
Kapha-balancing tends to look like: gentle stimulation, consistency, movement, lighter rhythms (without deprivation).
The goal isn’t a label—it’s a plan
The point of learning your dosha isn’t to put yourself in a box. It’s to give you a compassionate explanation and a practical next step.
If you’ve been thinking, “Why do I feel like this lately?”—Ayurveda gives you a framework that’s both grounding and actionable.
