It’s official! Cold and flu season is here! 😷🤦🏼♀️😱
Have you ever noticed how cold and flu season arrives on the heels of Halloween and lasts until just after Easter? Wonder why that is?🤔
Ok...jk...I have a theory. 🧐 Cold and flu season runs with CANDY season! 🍭 Why would this be? Because sugar feeds allll the bad stuff in your body...pain, inflammation, and germs of all sorts, including cold and flu germs.
Cold and flu season also follows the change of seasons. Remember how it was much warmer just a few weeks ago? As temperatures outside begin to cool, your body must adjust to regulate your body temps. Instead of keeping you cool, it must now work differently to keep you warm. This requires an actual process to adjust.
But, if you go into high candy and treats mode during this adjusting phase, you may become more susceptible to “catching” something..like a cold, or flu, or whatever else is in the air or on the shopping buggy handle at Walmart.😷
So, how to stay well?? You can totally see where I’m headed, can’t you? 😂 Now I’m going from teaching to meddling!🙊😬🙄
✅ Keep your sugar consumption to a minimum.
✅ Drink plenty of water. How much is enough? Half your body weight in ounces up to 100 oz. a day is a good guideline to shoot for.
✅ Consider supporting yourself with probiotics (because a healthy gut is a happy gut..and happy guts have healthy bodies).
✅ Stay rested. Getting to bed before midnight and sleeping at least seven hours at night will support your body’s immune defenses.
✅ And personally, before I head into germ zones, I slather my hands with hand sanitizers before I go in and when I come out! Places I consider “germ zones” include all stores, church, airplanes, and other public settings where there are lots of people.
