For Nurses Week 2026, our theme is "On Purpose". So we asked our incredible nurses here at White Mountain Regional Medical Center what purpose drives them in their nursing careers and in the compassionate care they offer to their community.
Their responses were powerful and heartfelt. Each had a different answer. But running through every single one of them was the same thread, a personal, unshakeable reason to show up and to serve. Some of them were called to nursing early. Some were led here by life circumstances they didn't expect. Some have been doing this for decades and still feel it the same way they did on day one.
Nursing is not an easy profession. The hours are long. The emotional weight can sometimes feel like it never lets up. And yet our nurses carry all of that, and still walk into every room with compassion, skill, and purpose. It's this that we are most greatful for, that they are doing what they are doing "On Purpose" and the empowerment it brings to work.
