*For the common person* fat loss you should be consuming more protein than carbs. 1g protein per lb of the body weight you want to be. 100g carbs seems to be a good area for fat loss and not feeling sluggish. Another tip... you want to avoid a meal that combines higher fat and higher carb. Shoot for combos of protein and carb or protein and fat.

There are 4 food components you consume that has calories. Alcohol, carbs, fat, and protein. 2 of them I could ethically tell you to not consume for along time and there would not be negative health outcomes. 2 of them I cannot. The 2 macro nutrients you absolutely must consume are fat and protein.

It is nearly impossible to better ones life without nutrition and exercise being involved. Tips? Baby steps. Go for a walk everyday. Cut sugary drinks. Build that up. Being healthy does not mean you can never have some of your favorite things. What can't happen is things like Halloween. It's estimated a child on Halloween will eat ~3-3.5 pounds of candy... 3 cups of sugar. 7000 calories. Every bit of that would be deemed "added sugar"... for a child that is almost 2 months worth of sugar. In just one night.

Sunday is the day to prepare for the up coming week. Not just nutritionally, but in life in general... it's a great day to focus. Get it!

The standard diet rec. of ~50% carb/grain, 30% protein, and 20% fat is making you sick. Try being grain free. Try 45% protein, 30% fat, and 25% carb... I'd bet the farm that, assuming you are free of rare issues, your health and body composition would greatly improve.

It's all about marketing and gyms have done a great job... BUT... change in body composition (fat loss) is mostly impacted by what you eat. Yes, exercise is important but what you are eating should be top priority. Most of us need to greatly increase our protein intake.

Poor nutrition is not a virus... it's not infectious like we think of. It's not an instant illness. It's chronic. It's easy to say "I'll start tomorrow" and for most tomorrow only comes when they receive a diagnosis that scares the hell out of them. 10% of the population are diabetic. Another 30%+ are pre-diabetic. I will beat this drum for the rest of my life... stop eating processed carbs and ditch the grains. It's that simple of a solution. So simple, many do not believe it. The difficulty is in executing it daily.

Stop looking for that "super food". It doesn't exist like you hope it does. Removal of processed carbs (and alcohol) will go further! Stop putting it off and start focusing on your health through the foods you consume.

RDA (Recommended Daily Allowance)was established ~80 years ago. One component to establish RDAs is "bioavailability of the nutrient among the food sources". Food science has greatly advanced since the 1940's. We do not need research when it comes to processed carbohydrates. It is common sense that the bioavailability of carbs in fruit, vegetable, and even whole grain (even though I do not think grain is a necessary part of a humans diet) is far different than in processed foods.
