☀️Summer fun is in full swing, but high temperatures can be dangerous—especially for children. Their bodies heat up faster than adults’, and they may not always recognize when they’re getting too hot. Here are some simple ways to help keep your little ones safe in the heat:
🕒 1. Plan Outdoor Play Wisely
Try to schedule outdoor activities in the early morning or late evening when it’s cooler.
Take frequent breaks in the shade or indoors.
💧 2. Hydration is Key
Encourage kids to drink water often—even if they say they’re not thirsty.
Avoid sugary or caffeinated drinks, which can lead to dehydration.
👒 3. Dress for the Weather
Choose lightweight, light-colored, and breathable clothing.
Don’t forget a wide-brimmed hat and child-safe sunscreen (SPF 30 or higher).
🏖️ 4. Be Sun Smart
Apply sunscreen 15–30 minutes before going outside and reapply every 2 hours—or after swimming or sweating.
Use sunglasses with UV protection to protect young eyes.
🚗 5. Never Leave Children in a Car
Even with the windows cracked, the temperature inside a car can rise dangerously fast.
Always check the back seat before locking your car.
🧊 6. Know the Signs of Heat Illness
Watch for:
Excessive sweating or no sweating at all
❗ Red, hot, or dry skin
❗Dizziness, nausea, or confusion
If you notice these signs, move your child to a cooler place, offer water, and seek medical help if needed.
