Therapy Tip: getting a “sweet treat” ≠ self-care
Sweet treats bring comfort for a moment. Think indulging on a special coffee, splurging for a new pair of shoes, or even spending the day at a spa. These are often things that bring instant gratification or assist us in avoiding our stress for a period of time.
Self-care builds strength for a lifetime. This includes regular exercise, balanced nutrition, meeting with a therapist or doctor, spending time with loved ones, drinking water, setting boundaries. These are situations or practices that help us to manage our stress and reduce problematic behaviors or symptoms later on.
So next time you do something remember:
🍩✨ “Treat yourself” is a mood boost. Self-care is a long-term investment. Know the difference—your mental health deserves both balance and depth.
