This week, we’re highlighting Alexandra (Xan) Russell, a licensed clinical social worker at Joyful Living Behavioral Health.

Xan provides individual therapy for teens and adults and takes a collaborative, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach to care. She values client input and works to create a therapeutic space that is supportive, adaptable, and free of judgment.

Her work is grounded in an anti-oppressive and intersectional lens, with attention to how broader systems can impact individuals and communities. Xan supports clients navigating life transitions, self-esteem, stress, anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns.

We’re grateful to have Xan as part of the Joyful Living team. Learn more about her background and areas of focus on our website.

Thinking about starting therapy but unsure what the first session is really like?

At Joyful Living, the first therapy session is designed to be a supportive and informational starting point. It’s a time to get to know your clinician, talk about what brings you in, and ask questions about the therapy process. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with, and sessions move at a pace that feels appropriate for you.

Therapy is not about being judged, told what to do, or having everything figured out right away. It’s about creating a respectful, collaborative space where you can explore your goals and next steps.

Joyful Living Behavioral Health provides therapy services in Eugene, Oregon and through secure telehealth across the state. Learn more about what to expect when getting started on our website.

Holly brings curiosity, compassion, and creativity into her work with children and their families. She understands that kids often communicate through play, movement, and expression rather than words, and she meets them where they are.

With experience supporting children facing anxiety, depression, trauma, developmental differences, and life transitions, Holly helps children build emotional regulation, strengthen relationships, and develop healthy patterns alongside their caregivers. Her approach is warm, play-based, and deeply supportive of each child’s unique needs.

Virtual and in-person sessions are available in Oregon.

Come into 2026 with prioritizing your mental health in a space that prioritizes you!

Joyful Living Behavioral Health is a boutique mental health group practice built on inclusion, honesty, respect, and integrity.

We believe therapy should see the whole person, not just symptoms. That means taking the time to understand where you are, where you want to be, and how we can support you in getting there.

Connection matters here. When you reach out, you’ll speak with a real person, not a recording. We prioritize timely responses, clear communication, and a supportive experience from your first inquiry forward.

We’re also proud of the culture we’ve created, one where clients feel heard and valued, and where our therapists are supported through collaboration, continued learning, and thoughtful leadership.

Personalized care. Genuine connection. A space designed for growth.

Meet Joy Turner, LPC
Clinical Director and Owner of Joyful Living Behavioral Health

Joy Turner has spent over 20 years supporting individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents through life’s challenges with compassion, care, and respect for each person’s unique experience. She believes therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process, and that meaningful growth happens when people feel truly heard and understood.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Joy specializes in couples counseling and s*x therapy, helping partners strengthen emotional connection, improve communication, and navigate intimacy challenges in a supportive, nonjudgmental space. Her approach is grounded in evidence-based practices and a trauma-informed understanding of relationships, attachment, and emotional well-being.

Joy also serves as a board-approved supervisor for associate therapists in Oregon and brings over a decade of experience in Human Resources and philanthropic work, which informs her leadership and collaborative clinical style.

Joyful Living Behavioral Health was created to be a welcoming, inclusive space where individuals and families can access thoughtful, personalized mental health care and feel supported on their path toward growth and healing.

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.”
– Oprah Winfrey
