It’s the Final Week of Vermont Health Careers Awareness Month!

All month long, our goal has been to inform, educate, and inspire everyone — from middle and high school students to adults exploring a “second act” — about the amazing opportunities in health careers right here in Vermont.

One incredible success story comes from Christina Lawrence, BSN, RN Care Coordinator with Springfield Health Center, whose journey began with our Southern Vermont AHEC MedQuest Program. Christina’s experience in MedQuest helped her discover her passion for nursing — and she’s been making an impact in rural health care ever since.

Here’s what Christina had to say about her journey:

"I always wanted to help people when I grew up, but it wasn't until I went to MedQuest that I knew I wanted to become a nurse. I saw how rewarding a nursing career can be and have enjoyed following in their footsteps. There is always something new to learn and wonderful people to meet. I have been working in rural healthcare for the past eight years and have no regrets. I am excited to further my education and continue working in the Green Mountain State!"

Nicole Montoya, FNP-C – As a former travel nurse, Nicole has cared for patients across 13 states before joining North Star. She’s committed to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care and helping her patients take an active role in their long-term health and wellness.

Dr. Christopher Cornelius, MD – After 20 years running his own family practice in Rutland and working with seniors in Pennsylvania, Dr. Cornelius is back in Vermont to focus on family, community, and prevention-focused care.

☑ Patients must check-in at the Pediatrics Office between 7:45am-8:15am to be seen.

Services offered:
💜Return to school notes
💜 Strep, Flu, and COVID testing
💜Acute illness such as rash, sore throat, cough and cold symptoms, urinary tract infections, etc.
