Yesterday was a robust learning experience for our community's high school and college students who want to be future health care workers.⚕️

They had the exclusive opportunity to explore today’s most in-demand and rewarding health care professions, and explore some they didn't have on their radar! Over 20 career pathways were present to share information on their industry, why they chose their field, what education/training is required, a typical day on the job, and answer any questions that came their way. 📝

Baystate Health is proud to be an economic and healthcare pillar in our communities, and offering local students a variety of opportunities to plan for their futures is essential to that. Hear what a few of our amazing Baystate Springfield Educational Partnership (BSEP) students had to say! ⤵️

Thank you to all the teams that came out to nurture the next generation of learners. 💙

Today, we honor the remarkable individuals who have served, and continue to serve, in the United States Armed Forces. Their courage, selflessness, and commitment to protect our nation remind us of the true meaning of service and sacrifice. 🇺🇸

As you walk through our hospitals, medical practices, and offices today, take a moment to recognize and thank the Veterans among us. Their stories, resilience, and continued service — in and out of uniform — reflect the very best of who we are.

Thank you for your dedication to serving others and advancing our mission of compassionate, quality, and accessible care. ❤️🤍💙

They truly shined on the national stage at the 2025 ANCC Magnet® & Pathway to Excellence® Conference in Atlanta, Georgia where thousands of nurses from around the world gathered to celebrate the very best in nursing excellence. 🩺

Representing , clinical nurses, nursing leaders, and Magnet ambassadors from Baystate Wing, Baystate Noble, Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Baystate Medical Center, and Baystate’s ambulatory practices, came together to learn, connect, and celebrate. 🎉

✨The best part? Baystate Medical Center was honored for achieving its 5️⃣th consecutive designation, a distinction earned by only 86 hospitals worldwide! 🌎

We are already 1️⃣ month into flu season, have you gotten your flu shot yet? 💉

The CDC and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health recommend that everyone 6 months and older get a flu shot each year. Vaccination can reduce your risk of illness by 40–60% when the vaccine matches circulating strains.

💡 Dr. Armando Philip S. Paez, 's Chief of the Department of Medicine, Infectious Disease, states, "It is never too late to get the flu shot to protect yourself throughout the long flu season. The best time to get a flu shot is as soon as possible, regardless of how late in the season it is."

The flu season typically strikes the U.S. beginning in October and lasts through May, with infections usually peaking from December through February. 🤧

Protect yourself, your loved ones, and our community this flu season! Learn more and schedule your flu shot today 👉

Just dropping a few of our favorite moments from last week’s Reverse Trick-or-Treat at Baystate Children’s Hospital! 🎃💙

From superheroes and princesses to colorful crayons and cherished characters, our and Health New England team brought Halloween magic to every patient room with the help from our amazing partners, Spirit Halloween, Spirit of Children, and Starlight Children's Foundation. Thank you for your generous donations of costumes, books, candy bags, and stuffed animals for our patients and families to enjoy. ✨

We can't wait to fill the hospital halls with some more fun next year! 👻

For more than a decade, Gary managed his kidney health closely with his trusted nephrologist in New York. But when his Glomerular Filtration Rate, a key measure indicating how much blood the kidneys filter each minute, dropped below 20 and eventually reached 12, it was time for a new plan. That led him straight to the Baystate Health Kidney Transplant Program.⚕️

On December 6, 2024, Gary received his life-saving , a turning point he describes as “nothing short of exceptional”. Gary shared, “Dr. Boonyanuth Maturostrakul provided a level of care I had not received in the last few years...She was patient, perceptive, and full of empathy. Baystate has literally given me life.” 🌟

Inspired by their father's journey, his children have already signed up to be organ donors!

Stories like Gary’s below ⤵️ remind us that behind every transplant is a team dedicated to giving patients not just more time, but more moments worth living. 💙

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re wrapping up October's employee spotlight series by introducing one of the newest members of our team. 💫

Meet ➡️ Dr. Mackenzie Goodrich, Breast Surgical Oncology Fellow for the 2025–2026 academic year. Dr. Goodrich joined Baystate after completing medical school at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in New Mexico, and finishing her General Surgery Residency at Carilion Clinic–Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine. As a Connecticut native, she’s excited to be back in the Northeast completing her training. 🩺

In her fellowship, Dr. Goodrich specializes in the surgical care of patients with breast cancer and benign breast disease. Her typical week includes time in the operating room performing lumpectomies, mastectomies, and axillary surgeries, as well as in clinic rotations with breast imaging, pathology, radiation oncology, medical oncology, and research. She works alongside a multidisciplinary team to ensure every patient receives a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan. “It’s our responsibility to help them understand their diagnosis, talk through their surgical options, as well as give them the tools and encouragement to fight.” 💪

Dr. Goodrich reminds us that while October shines a special light on , she “couldn’t be happier to have chosen this career in medicine where every month is breast cancer awareness month.” 💗

Our final event is NEXT WEEK! 💗
