Cake Is Soft! 🍰
This week’s sensory food play activity helps kids explore texture, build fine motor skills, and learn new words at their own pace. Designed with CVI-friendly visuals, slow, intentional pacing, and Roman Word Bubbling to support AAC users, emergent communicators, and children with complex needs.

Perfect for early intervention, special education, GMFCS II–V, sensory processing support, and hands-on learning at home or in the classroom. Use real food or pretend food—either way, kids stay engaged while practicing communication, attention, and exploration.

🚨 If you are one of the 90,000 OHP holders in Lane County this will affect you! Serious concerns about "continuity of care" are being raised due to a reported lack of transition plan by OHA to identify high risk individuals with Lane County OHP coverage shifting from Pacific Source to Trillium. OHA is offering a 'listening session" to hear your concerns.

Cottage Grove: Saturday, December 6, 12–1:30 p.m. at the Cottage Grove Community Center.

Florence: Tuesday, December 9, 6–7:30 p.m. at the Siuslaw Public Library.

Eugene/Springfield: Thursday, December 11, 6–7:30 p.m. at the Graduate by Hilton Eugene.

Please consider attending in-person or virtually and ask questions. This impacts high risk individuals, children, and those with medically complex needs. Circle of Friends in Cottage Grove Oregon is one of the few if not only schools dedicated to children with Complex Disabilities. Please think of them as you consider this giving season. 💚

“A little hand to hold can change everything.” 🧡

This simple gesture captures so much of what makes Circle of Friends special. Children learning from one another. Friendship is formed in small moments. A circle of care that continues to expand.

Circle of Friends exists to create opportunities for children and youth with complex disabilities in Oregon, and for the people who love them. We believe every person has value, and every child deserves a community that sees their strengths, honors their needs, and surrounds them with care.

We would be grateful for your support. Your generosity helps strengthen the circle around our students and the people who love them. As you finalize your year-end giving plans, we hope you will consider a tax-deductible gift that helps our children grow, connect, and thrive.

🍌 A little idea that might brighten your week…

What if you and your child had one simple, joyful ritual together every week?
Something predictable.
Something bite-sized.
Something you both look forward to.

This week’s YouTube video is Bananas Go Squish! — and if you want to play along, just grab a banana ahead of time. No prep, no fancy supplies… just you, your child, and 5 minutes of exploring together.

Video drops on YouTube this FRIDAY at 2 PM PST.

✨ Kids thrive on rituals.
✨ Parents thrive on connection.
✨ And sensory play is such an easy way to enjoy both.

If you’d like to join in, try making it your weekly food exploration moment.

Hope it brings a little joy into your week. 💛🍌
