Interesting, I just saw a news story on how to cope with election related sleep problems, “electionsomnia”. Not minimizing, or disregarding the importance of issues, but I can’t wait for tomorrow to be over. It concerns me how much power the media has over folks mental health. The constant coverage can make it hard to unwind, especially since the stakes feel so high for many people. “Electionsomnia” is an interesting term, capturing how people’s sleep patterns can be disrupted by political stress and endless news cycles. The media’s role in amplifying tension, particularly in the days leading up to elections, often contributes to heightened anxiety and sleeplessness.
Unplugging, even just for a little while, can be incredibly beneficial. This might mean setting specific times for news check-ins, taking media-free evenings, or engaging in calming activities like reading or spending time outdoors. Stepping back can give perspective and help recharge mental energy—especially valuable when the media cycle gets intense. Just a professional recommendation, but if this has caused debilitation in your daily life please unplug and take a break from the news, I promise you will thank me later.
