Dr. Di Guglielmo comes to after serving as Chief of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics at Nemours Children’s Hospital in Delaware, as well as a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. He is nationally recognized for his expertise in mentoring and his contributions to pediatric healthcare delivery, obesity, and microbiome research.⚕️

We are excited to have his award-winning leadership and vision guiding the future of pediatric care for children and families throughout western Massachusetts. Welcome, Dr. Di Guglielmo! 💙

Meet the adorable Celine! Celine is 4.5 years old and full of joy! She loves to dance, sing, color, and draw. But her real passion? Playing dress-up, painting her nails, and doing makeup—especially if it's sparkly! ✨

Celine's journey began when her mom, Allison, was admitted to Baystate Medical Center at just 28 weeks pregnant after her water broke. She stayed at the Wesson Women and Infants' Unit until being induced at 34 weeks. During this time, our amazing doctors at the Davis NICU walked Allison through every step of the process, easing fears and ensuring she felt supported. Allison received two rounds of steroid shots to help Celine's lungs, blood vessels, and overall development. Celine was born premature and immediately received expert care in the NICU, where she stayed for 11 days.

While we always hope families never need the NICU, we are incredibly honored to be there when they do. Seeing Celine today, thriving and full of life, is a reminder of the strength and resilience of our little fighters and the amazing care our team provides. Thank you, Allison, for sharing this beautiful update with us!

Wow, once again our community has amazed us! Thanks to your incredible generosity, along with the hard work of our volunteers, sponsors, 94.7 WMAS - Springfield, MA, and the Baystate Health Foundation team, we’ve raised $256,235 to support the lifesaving care at Baystate Children’s Hospital.

Before reading further, please be aware this post discusses the loss of a child.

As we close out this year’s radiothon, we reflect on Eislyn’s legacy and the many brave young patients who have been gained their wings due to serious illness.

Eislyn Rose O’Brien was diagnosed with a rare form of Acute Myeloid Leukemia in November 2019, shortly after her first birthday. She faced five rounds of high-dose chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Sadly, despite these efforts, she relapsed within 20 days.

In July 2020, her parents received the heartbreaking news that her condition was terminal. They chose to leave the hospital and fill Eislyn’s final months with as many beautiful moments as possible.

On October 9, 2020, Eislyn gained her wings.

Her mother, Chelsea, continues to share her story, honoring her memory and raising awareness for other children battling illness.

Luca Mangini was born at just 23 weeks and spent 180 days in the Baystate Children’s Hospital Davis NICU. Throughout this challenging journey, his parents, Becky and Mark, shared how profoundly the care team impacted their family.
