Today, Aveanna recognizes Global Accessibility Awareness Day, a time to spread awareness and learn about digital equality for the one billion people living in the world with a disability.

Every user deserves the same digital experience, including those with vision, hearing, mobility, and cognitive disabilities or impairments. Today and every day, we celebrate the power of accessibility and its ability to break down barriers that hinder equal opportunities for all.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a unique opportunity to take action, support those living with mental health conditions, and change the conversation surrounding them.

This year's theme is "See the Person. Support the Journey." This topic highlights the importance of noticing signs of mental health concerns, showing support for others, and responding with compassion.

This year’s theme is "Moments in Bloom," which spotlights how simple acts of compassion and teamwork can grow into meaningful experiences for those receiving care and their families.

Our Springfield Administrative Office Coordinator, Volunteer Coordinator and CNA planned a special outing for the RNs at our office for Nurses Week!

It was kept a surprise until the night of the event. Everyone arrived at the office, where they were then driven to the event. The event was then identified as "Mahalo to our Nurses." We had a Luau Cookie Decorating Class at the Garden House, where they were able to walk through the gardens and coy ponds! We enjoyed the night decorating cookies, laughing, and telling stories about our nursing journeys.

Happy Nurses Week!

When Bob’s health declined, his daughter Bonnie had one simple wish: to keep her dad at home, surrounded by family, during the final chapter of his life. Bob was living with advanced dementia and prostate cancer. Although Bonnie was devoted to caring for him, his medical needs quickly became overwhelming.

That’s when her Aveanna Hospice team stepped in. Almost immediately after Bob was discharged from the hospital, they connected with Bonnie to ensure her father received compassionate, expert care and that she had the support she needed during an incredibly emotional time.

Nurse Allie’s care enabled Bob to continue doing the things he loved at home, like fishing, dancing, and spending time with his grandchildren after church. Care from her entire Aveanna Hospice team allowed Bonnie to focus on the role that mattered most to her during that time: being Bob’s daughter.

Reflecting on that experience, Bonnie said, “I don’t think I could have done it without Aveanna’s help. Their compassion gave me such confidence that it would be okay. Because of them, I have so many beautiful memories with my dad, and that’s how it should be.”

This Nurses Week, we are honored to spotlight hospice nurses like Allie whose care lifts spirits and touches hearts for families like Bonnie's. Thank you for all you do!

This Nurses Week, we honor all of our nurses by celebrating this year’s theme: The Power of Nurses. One nurse can change a moment or a life, and when thousands of nurses share the same goals, we create a movement of clinical excellence that advances what’s possible in Aveanna and the broader world of care.

We hope this video from our Chief Clinical Officer, Rachel Witt, helps you start your week off in the right way as we come together to share inspiration, information, and the joy of what it means to bring compassionate care home every day. Happy Nurses Week!
