Mental Health Recovery Board of Clark, Greene & Madison Counties Mental Health Recovery Board of Clark, Greene & Madison Counties advocates for and supports a system

MHRB believes in:
- Creating and supporting Recovery-Oriented Systems of Care (ROSC). This means that we use creative approaches to prioritize the needs of individuals and family members and help people find recovery from mental illness and substance use problems. We uphold individual preferences and that there are many pathways to finding and sustaining recovery. This means that healthy environments are just as important as individual change.
- Supporting trauma-informed communities. We recognize that trauma is a common experience and understand that creating safe spaces is integral to facilitating quality care and necessary to foster growth.
- Advocating for care in the least restrictive settings, while also supporting inpatient levels of care when necessary.
- Finding strategic, cross-system solutions by identifying a common agenda and using common language, by sharing data, by supporting mutually reinforcing activities, and by using continuous communication with system partners.

Mental Health Recovery Board of Clark, Greene & Madison Counties is pleased to announce that we are hosting the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) 40-hour in-person Peer Recovery Supporter (PRS) Training, beginning May 18, 2026! Registration for the DBH PRS Training is coordinated through Ohio Peer Recovery Organizations (OhioPRO). Below please find the information needed to register through OhioPRO.

Training ID: CLA608

Training Dates: 05/18/26 โ€“ 05/22/26

Training Hours: 8:30am โ€“ 5:00pm

Location: Springfield, Ohio

There will be a 30 minute lunch break; lunch will be provided.

The DBH 40-hour PRS Training is a live, interactive training that teaches prospective Certified Peer Recovery Supporters (CPRS) who self-identify as being in recovery from a mental health or substance use disorder to use their experience to help their Peers with the same lived experience. Prospective CPRS will engage in role-play activities and learn the skills necessary to offer high quality Peer Support. Upon successful completion of PRS training, prospective CPRS will be eligible to apply for Adult Peer Recovery Supporter Certification in Ohio. To attend training, you must be personally in recovery from a mental health and/or substance use disorder and be willing to share your personal story appropriately in a group setting. Having a friend or family member in recovery will not qualify you to attend this training.

To register for the DBH PRS training, please complete the below 2 steps:

Please note that your spot in training is not confirmed until you have completed all requirements below and received an e-mail from OhioPRO offering you a spot in the training (you will have 5 days to accept your spot in the training). Spots in the training are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, as prospective CPRS complete the below requirements.:

STEP 1: Complete the free Ohio Learn 16-hour Peer Recovery Supporter Training Curriculum and save your completion certificate to your computer.

Visit this website to get started on the curriculum: https://dbh.ohio.gov/community-partners/peer-supporters/resources/ohio-learn. The curriculum takes approximately 16-20 hours to complete.
* Note: If you previously completed this coursework on eBased Academy, the eBased Academy 16-hour Certified Peer Recovery Supporter Training Learning plan completion certificate is also accepted.

STEP 2: Complete the Registration Form for the 40-hour live, in-person PRS Training: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/JT6HSG9

Please note, prior to completing the Registration Form, you must complete the Ohio Learn 16-hour Peer Recovery Supporter Training Curriculum, and have your completion certificate ready to submit. To register for the training beginning May 18, in Springfield, OH, please select Training ID CLA608

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS: Please note, to be eligible for certification, Ohio Administrative Code requires that prospective CPRS complete a full 40 hours of PRS Training. Due to each PRS training being unique and confidential, make-up time is not available for any reason (including illness, emergencies, medical appointments, childcare, court appointments, employment, etc.). If you miss training time, you will need to begin the PRS training again at a future training. Please register only if you have no outside obligations, personal or professional, during training hours.

Please note that registration may only be completed using the Registration Form. Registration cannot be completed by phone or e-mail.

๐ŸŒฟ Selfโ€‘Care Idea of the Week ๐ŸŒฟ
Take 10 minutes today to step outside and do a โ€œfive sensesโ€ checkโ€‘in.
Pause and notice:
๐Ÿ‘€ one thing you can see
๐Ÿ‘‚ one thing you can hear
โœ‹ one thing you can feel
๐Ÿ‘ƒ one thing you can smell
๐Ÿ‘… one thing you can taste
This small moment of mindfulness can help reset your nervous system and bring your attention back to the presentโ€”no special equipment required.
Selfโ€‘care doesnโ€™t have to be complicated. Sometimes, slowing down is enough. ๐Ÿ’š

Our Story

At Mental Health Recovery Board of Clark, Greene & Madison Counties (MHRB), we know that healthy people create healthy communitiesโ€”and vice versa. Thatโ€™s why we provide help to those in need by connecting residents to the local care community, regardless of income or ability to pay.

We assist partners, stakeholders, residents, and anyone at risk of mental health or substance use concerns, providing pathways to mental health and addiction services for everybody and every family in our three-county area. We connect those who need it to treatment, while also creating prevention-prepared and recovery-oriented communities that are resilient, supportive, and trauma-informed.

Our dedicated board members and staff provide resources for prevention, treatment, and support, while upholding a community-wide safety net to protect families, adults, and children. Knowing that individuals who have basic needs met are more likely to get and stay well, we advocate for better quality of life and provide resources for basic needs like transportation, housing, and medication.

MHRB is one of 50 Boards that make up Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities, a trade association for Ohioโ€™s Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health (ADAMH) Boards. The association awards Culture of Quality Certification (COQ) to Boards who have demonstrated evidence of substantial conformance with the COQ standards and a serious commitment to meeting the goals of the COQ program. MHRB is proud not only to be a COQ-certified board, but to have two volunteer surveyors on staff.
