We’re proud to spotlight Dr. Erin Murray, Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at Western New England University, for her powerful advocacy in disability representation.
In her recent MassLive opinion piece, Dr. Murray challenges Massachusetts to adopt the Accessible Icon, a modern, empowering symbol of disability that reflects movement, autonomy, and strength. Her message is clear: how we depict disability matters.

As an educator, occupational therapist, and change-maker, Dr. Murray continues to lead by example, shaping not only future clinicians, but also a more inclusive world.

Thank you, Dr. Murray, for pushing the conversation forward and showing what true advocacy in action looks like.

Clinical Pharmacogenomics in Action!

Yesterday, our very own Dr. Kinney and Dr. Anderson had the pleasure of accompanying our MS in Pharmacogenomics students on an immersive site visit to Quest Diagnostics and Athena Diagnostics in Marlborough, MA.

🧬 This hands-on learning experience gave our students an inside look at the clinical applications of pharmacogenomics—from lab operations to genetic counseling. We’re incredibly grateful to our gracious hosts:
• Carol Hoffman, Certified Genetic Counselor, Athena Diagnostics
• Lisa Blazejewski & Kathy O’Brien, Quest Diagnostics
• Nick Tiebout, Athena Diagnostics

Thank you to everyone who made this site visit a success and helped bring the future of personalized medicine to life for our students.
