Jerrod L. Curl

Jerrod Lee Curl, 48 years old of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully in his sleep, Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He was born in Springfield, Missouri on August 16, 1977, to Jody Curl Ellis and Darrell Curl.

Jerrod grew up in Mt. Vernon Missouri, attending all years of K-12 education in the Mt. Vernon school district. In a town as small as Mt. Vernon, with a personality as big as Jerrod’s, it is safe to say everyone knew him. Jerrod left a lasting impression on the Mt. Vernon community. Upon graduating from high school, Jerrod moved to Springfield, Missouri where he remained.

In Springfield, Jerrod was employed by a variety of local call centers and downtown restaurants and bars. He is well remembered for his many years bartending and managing Billiards of Springfield. During this time, Jerrod made countless close friends whom he loved, and in turn loved him, dearly.

Jerrod was passionate about many things, none more so than music, comedy, and the river.

Jerrod was a regular presence in the Springfield music scene while also traveling extensively to follow his favorite bands. He was lovingly welcomed by staff and musicians at most of the downtown Springfield venues through the early 2000’s. Although he didn’t perform, those who did remember him fondly.

Jerrod was a fan of stand-up comedy from a young age and was instrumental in bringing live comedy back to Springfield. While managing Billiards, Jerrod converted their little used venue space, The Blue Room, into a full functioning comedy club, which was eventually moved to a different location to accommodate bigger acts.

If you were to ask Jerrod of his favorite thing in the world, he would undoubtedly tell you, “floating the river with friends.” He would never turn down an invitation to a river trip, planning many of them, including several annual trips that served as reunions for several of his friend groups.

Jerrod always had a smile and was a kind, loving, and caring person. He would, and often did, give all he had to help someone in need. Jerrod was the definition of a “best friend.” To know Jerrod was to love him.

He is survived by his mother Jody Ellis and father Darrell Curl (Karen), sisters Amber Curl and Haley Curl.

Jerrod is also survived by Sam (his “brother by his other mother,” Sheila-Momma 2, Chris and April), Ashley Shelton and their three boys, whom Jerrod considered his nephews, Branch, Price, and Finn.

Jerrod is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins and extended family Jen, Eric, Cam and Tuck Eden.

He is preceded in death by his Granny Jean Cope, Grandparents Edna Mae Spillman and Joe Curl, and extended family Craig Ellis.

Celebration of Life will be held at Mother’s Brewing Company Barrel House in downtown Springfield on June 6th, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Sharing of memories will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Patrick Joseph Haynes

Pat Haynes (54) Springfield MO passed away at 2:30 AM Monday May 11, 2026 peacefully at home surrounded by his family. He was born October 19, 1971 in North Kansas City MO to Susan Haynes. He attended Oak Park High School and was an Army Veteran. He married Kim Terry on October 26, 2002, in Gladstone MO and became a father to the one that brought meaning to his life, Tucker on March 12, 2005.

Pat was a proud stay at home dad, homeschooling his son and teaching him everything he needed to know to be a productive human in life. One of Pat’s quotes that he lived by was “There is good in the world, Fight for it!” and he stood his ground anytime his principles were challenged. You always knew where you stood with him and if he thought you were wrong, he had no problems letting you know.

His passion was collecting knives, pens, guns, and running people over in the video game Red Dead Redemption 2. He could tell you anything you wanted to know (and even things you didn’t) on a variety of subjects as he was an avid researcher spending hours learning about new and interesting things. If he decided you were worthy of conversation, you walked away knowing something that you didn’t previously know. He made sure to always surround himself with the people who were important to him and made sure we knew just how much he loved us. We are all going to miss his dry wit, his disdain for stupid people and his all around presence. Even though he tried to blend in, you always knew he was there, most likely silently judging you for your poor decisions.

He is survived by his wife Kim, son Tucker, mother Susan Johnson, father Keith Johnson, sister Nikki Hummel along with step brothers, niece, nephew, and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Harry and Betty Haynes and his mother in law Sue Terry.

Family viewing will be held Thursday May 14, 2026 at Herman Lohmeyer Funeral Home with a family graveside service Friday May 15 , 2026 at the Veterans Cemetery in Ozark MO.

Flowers and cards can be sent to the funeral home, but if preferred, contributions in his honor can be made to Children’s Miracle Network PO Box 8812 Springfield MO 65801.

Bradley Dean Cox

Bradley Dean Cox, 61, passed away on April 27, 2026, with his sisters by his side. He was born on July 23, 1964, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Harold and Doris Cox. Brad was baptized at an early age at the First General Baptist Church.

Brad grew up in south Springfield, Missouri, alongside his parents and two older sisters. He graduated from Kickapoo High School and later attended Vatterott College, where he earned a degree in Computer Assisted Drafting. He began working shortly after high school at Heuer Williams Wholesale Shoe Warehouse and later spent several years at Polyfab Plastics. However, the role that truly fit his heart was his work with the Meals on Wheels program at Northview Senior Center. Brad volunteered there for eight years before earning a paid position, and the center became like a second family to him.

Born with spina bifida, Brad never allowed his condition to define him. He faced life with determination, humor, and resilience. Even after losing the use of his legs, he continued to do what he loved most. He was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan as well as NASCAR. He loved dogs and had several special pets during his lifetime.

Brad had a deep love for the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He was an excellent marksman and enjoyed both rifle and bow hunting. Fishing, however, was his true passion. He often traveled to Pomme de Terre Lake, sometimes sleeping in his chair so he could be ready to fish at sunrise. In the final weeks of his life, he was still able to enjoy fishing several times—something that brought him great joy.

Brad never knew a stranger and had a gift for conversation, often striking up friendships wherever he went. Known for his playful spirit, Brad loved a good prank. He was famous for ordering plastic snakes and spiders to surprise his nurses, and once sent a nurse searching for his socks—only to reveal with a grin that he didn’t have feet.

Above all, Brad had a generous and compassionate heart. He would quite literally give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His kindness, humor, and strength touched the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed.

Brad was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Doris Cox. He is survived by his sisters, Cathy and Eric Callahan and Patty Murray; his nieces and nephews, Clayton Morelock, Dylan Murray, Debra and Josh Scheppmann, and Heather and Josh Lewis; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaeley Morelock, Josalynn Scheppmann, Addison Lewis, Harper Lewis, Elle Morelock, Carson Scheppmann, Greyson Scheppmann, and Cole Lewis.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on May 2, 2026 at the Northview Senior Center, 305 E Talmage Street, Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Springfield Humane Society or Peterson Outdoor Ministries (www.petersonoutdoors.org).
