Mary Beth O'Reilly

May 8, 1942 – March 7, 2026

Mary Elizabeth (Murney) O’Reilly, 83, of Nixa, Missouri, peacefully slipped away to meet her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on March 7, 2026. She passed away at her beloved home in Florida, surrounded by her family and loving husband of sixty-one years, Charlie O’Reilly, after a decades-long battle with breast cancer.

Mary Beth was born on May 8, 1942, in Bremerton, Washington, to William and Alba Murney. When she was three years old the family returned to Missouri and settled in Ste. Genevieve, where she grew up along the limestone bluffs above the Mississippi River. She was the oldest of six children and graduated from Valle Catholic High School in 1960. From an early age she showed the instincts of a caregiver and a deep concern for others that would shape the course of her life.

She attended DePaul Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis and graduated in 1964, beginning what would become a lifelong calling in health care and service to others. Her educational background included a BSN degree from Drury University and an Honorary Degree “Doctor of Humane Letters” from Drury in 2009. After finishing nursing school, Mary Beth packed her MG convertible and headed south toward Florida, planning to start the next chapter of her life. On the way she stopped “briefly” in Springfield to visit her Uncle Bob and Aunt Lucille Murney. That short visit changed everything. Uncle Bob and Jerry Stiefvater introduced her to a young man named Charlie O’Reilly. Their courtship quickly became part of family lore. On one of their early dates Charlie took her frog gigging at Lindenlure; a proper Ozarks welcome if there ever was one. Mary Beth had originally planned to continue her drive to Florida, but somewhere along the riverbank she reconsidered. She married Charlie on April 24, 1965, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Springfield, and never did finish that drive south.

Mary Beth and Charlie spent the next sixty-one years building a life together in southwest Missouri. They raised their three sons; Pat, Tim, and Ryan; largely on their family farm near Nixa, though Mary Beth herself always maintained she was not a farmer. Her professional life in health care was wide-ranging and deeply meaningful. She worked as a staff nurse in local hospitals, served as a physician assistant for a Springfield surgeon, and taught pediatrics at St. John’s School of Nursing. She later became Coordinator of Community Resources for Oxford Home Health Care and then Director of Community Services for Hospice of Southwest Missouri, where she helped families navigate the difficult realities of death and dying with compassion, honesty, and dignity.

Mary Beth later developed and managed a nurse triage and physician referral program at St. John’s Regional Health Center, helping connect patients with appropriate levels of care during a time of rapid change in health care delivery. While she held many professional roles, the work that would define her life began after she faced her own illness. In the mid-1990s she was diagnosed with advanced breast cancer. Rather than withdraw from the fight, Mary Beth turned outward and began asking how she could help others facing the same diagnosis.

In 2000 she founded the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, an organization dedicated to providing support, resources, and financial assistance to families affected by breast cancer throughout the region. The foundation was also established in memory of a close friend who died from breast cancer at the age of 31. What began as a small effort grew into an incredibly important support organization. Mary Beth personally mentored and supported countless women, men and families navigating diagnosis and treatment, offering encouragement, guidance, inspiration and practical assistance when it was needed most.

Community service remained a constant thread throughout her life. She served in leadership roles with the Community Foundation of the Ozarks, the American Red Cross, the Child Advocacy Center, and many other organizations committed to improving the health and well-being of the Ozarks. She was appointed to the Missouri Governor’s Council on Health and Fitness and participated in numerous initiatives aimed at strengthening communities and improving public health. She was awarded Springfieldian of The Year and Humanitarian of The Year and also received Missourian of The Year recognition in 2001. Yet those who knew her best understood that the long list of organizations and accomplishments was never the point. What mattered most to Mary Beth was helping people in difficult circumstances.

Her Catholic faith shaped both her life and her work. She believed strongly that patients should educate themselves, seek second opinions, participate actively in their care, and refuse to let illness or outside circumstances define their lives. She was known for her willingness to answer late-night phone calls, sit with people who were frightened, offer honest advice, and remind others that they were not alone in difficult moments.

She was adored by her surviving family, Charlie and her sons and daughters-in-law Pat and Shannon, Tim and Brooke, and Ryan and Brandi, as well as her nine grandchildren Alec (Taylor), Charlie, Liam, Grace, Evelyn, Patrick, Clara, Hadley and Finnegan. She was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Alba Murney, but is survived by her loving siblings Gurutej Kaur (Keith), Celeste Steen (Reg), Ciena Rose William, Bill Murney (Lisette) and Louise Wagner (Geoff) as well as many nieces and nephews, in addition to her “bonus sisters” Nancy O’Reilly and Rosalie O’Reilly Wooten, brothers in law Larry O’Reilly (Anya) and David O’Reilly (Stacey), and Pam O’Reilly along with many other family members and close friends. Charlie and Mary Beth spent significant time in Florida and Colorado in retirement and cherished their countless close friends in those areas as well.

Mary Beth’s life was defined by a simple instinct: when someone was hurting, she showed up. She listened carefully, spoke plainly, and helped people find the next step forward. Her legacy lives on through her family and friends, the Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, and through the countless lives she touched with her compassion, courage, and steady presence.

A visitation will be begin at 9:00 a.m., eulogy from family to begin at 10:15 am, with a Funeral Mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield, Missouri.

The service will be livestreamed through the church page. https://www.facebook.com/seaschurch.org

Randy Teryl Little

Randy Teryl Little was an Oklahoma Sooner boy from day one. He was born January 4, 1950 in Enid, Ok to David Little and Nelda Chappell Little. He joined his brother Kendell. His sisters Kathy and Robbie and brother Kirby came later. Randy loved spending summers on his Grandpa’s farm and drove a tractor with Grandpa’s help when he was 3. He graduated from Enid High in 1968 and was recruited to play both freshman and varsity football as nose guard for the Sooners. He was on the recruitment list for both the Bears and Raiders. A serious knee injury ended his Sooner football. But never keep a football lover down. He played minor league football for the Tulsa Mustangs from 1972-1973. He enrolled in Phillips University and got a degree in computer science. During that time, he worked at Enid State School and Hospital and Larry Blacks Sporting Goods in Enid.

Randy grew up not only loving football, but he loved wildlife. He taught himself taxidermy at a young age and his mother never knew what she might find. He became very involved in wildlife activities and was first appointed national chairman of both National Hunting and Fishing Day plus served 3 years as Chairman of the Grand National Quail Hunt in Enid, OK which catered to famous personalities from the movies, television, politicians, astronauts, military and other famous notables.

Randy had the itch to do other things and spent time in the Rocky Mountains fishing. He was a Toledo Bend, Tx fishing guide for 2 years and could navigate just about any body of water. He was a millwrite Asst and industrial maintenance engineer for AJ Mundy chemical plant in Houston and became Sporting Goods Manager for KEI Enterprises in Tulsa. In his later years, he started tying his own flies and grew to love trout fishing.

In 1985, Johnnie Morris recruited Randy to move to Springfield and start Wildlife Creations Taxidermy. He gave him a desk and a phone and told him to go for it. And, Randy did it. He met his wife Marla Mundell Little in 1987 and they were together for the rest of his life. Together they built a successful physician recruitment business and started The Alliance of Medical Recruiters AMR and ran that for many years.

Football never left Randy. He coached and then later was a board member for Mitey Mites in Springfield. In 2005 he started Ozarks Football League, a not-for-profit Spring league for youth players 5-8 th grades. He built lifelong friendships and provided one of the most excellent youth football programs in the nation. Health issues prohibited him continuing and he and his Board of Directors closed the program in 2024.

In declining health, he continued to find new interests which included painting, fly tying, and making NFL and Collegiate inspired football helmet lamps from retired helmets.

He loved God, his wife Marla, his boxers, fishing, family, friends, and football. He was loved.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and several nephews. He is survived by his wife Marla and his loving family on both sides.

He was cremated and did not want a service. He thought a service would disrupt loved one’s lives.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Herman H. Lohmeyer Funeral Home, Springfield, Missouri

Joyce Marie Klepel

Joyce Marie (Rahmeier) Klepel was born on February 5, 1938 in her mother's house in rural Coffey County, Kansas to Martin and Lucille Rahmeier. When she was 12 years old her parents bought a farm in Prairie City, Missouri and moved their family. Joyce attended the Lutheran School in Prairie City up to 8th grade after which she continued high school in Rich Hill, Missouri. Joyce attended Concordia Lutheran college in Seward, Nebraska where she met Duane Klepel. They were married on December 26, 1959 at the Lutheran Church in Prairie City.

She followed her husband and lived in New York City where Duane had a teaching position for the first four years of their marriage. During those years her first daughters, Mary (Brown) and Dawn(L Suwaratana) were born.

They then moved to Lino Lakes and then to Lynd, Minnesota where Duane worked in Honeywell (3 years) and taught at Lynd high school (4 years). During those years her two sons, Daniel Duane Klepel and Robert Martin Klepel were born.

Joyce said she always felt a call in her heart to missions. From early on in her marriage she sent Sunday school materials to churches in India. So in 1972 when Duane suggested they sell their home and travel to Israel to do mission work, she was happily agreed.

Duane, Joyce and family served the Lord in Israel for 2 years and then returned to live in Rich Hill, Missouri.

In 1976 Duane again felt the call to the mission field, this time in Asia. Once again, Joyce happily gave up all their earthly possessions except what would fit in the suitcases and the family set out for the mission field. They visited India for one week and Joyce was able to meet some of the pastors whom she had sent the Sunday school materials to!

Joyce and Duane and family settled in Thailand and served the Lord there for 20 years. During that time another daughter, Judy, was born. Joyce was 42 years old at that time. Judy was born at a primitive midwife's clinic in Thailand.

Duane, Joyce and Judy returned to the United States in 1997,to care for their aging parents. After they returned, yet another son was added to the family. Rosen joined the Klepel family by adoption on March 2, 1997.

After both sets of parents had passed on, when Joyce was in her 70's, she followed her husband back to the mission field; this time Australia.

Joyce thoroughly enjoyed the 5 years they lived in Australia. She taught Bible class at a few public schools and ministered to the elderly.

Joyce returned with her husband Duane to the United States in 2018 when at long last they both retired from missionary life - well into their 80's. Of the 60 years they were married, 30 of them were spent on the mission field overseas. Although in retirement, she continued to show God's love in the community and at her church.

Joyce loved to write and was known for her many writings of their mission life abroad. Although she was proceeded in death by her parents, Martin and Lucille Rahmeier, and her husband, Duane of 65 years, she is survived by her sister, Treva (Leon) Bright; 3 daughters, Mary (David) Brown, Dawn (Tosh) Lsuwaratana and Judy (Israel) Dryer; and 3 sons, Daniel Klepel and Robert (Ruth) Klepet, Rosen(Oksana), in addition to 28 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.

Since Joyce's children live in many different time zones across the world they will hold a live online memorial service for Joyce. The date and time will be posted and accessed through Duane and Joyce Klepel's Facebook account.
