Baystate Health Foundation is the fundraising entity for Baystate Health.

At Baystate Health Foundation, we strive to connect our community to the areas of Baystate Health that mean the most to them through philanthropy. When you make a donation to Baystate Health Foundation, you are joining a community of donors who cares deeply about the continued excellence of healthcare in our region. Baystate Health is recognized nationally as a leader in healthcare quality and safety, with an academic medical center that is the region’s only Level 1 trauma facility, the only accredited full-service children’s hospital, and the only dedicated cardiac and cancer centers, along with a network of community hospitals. Together, Baystate Health’s hospitals, medical practices and home care provides a powerful integration of health care that places the patient first with high-quality, compassionate care. The landscape of healthcare is ever-changing, and now more than ever, philanthropy plays a pivotal role at Baystate Health. Gifts last year funded much needed mobile work stations for nurses, our new palliative care team who provide support for chronically ill patients, equipment for pediatric surgeons who perform miracles every day, educational programs for care providers to support our commitment to innovative learning and so much more. 💙 Meet Our 2026 CMN Champion for Baystate Children's Hospital: Ella! 💙

We are beyond excited to introduce Ella as this year’s CMN Champion for Baystate Children’s Hospital.

Born 13 weeks early at just 2 lbs. 8 oz., Ella began life in the NICU facing challenges no newborn should have to endure. But from the very start, she showed remarkable strength and determination. With the care of Baystate Children’s Hospital and its NICU team, Ella fought through every obstacle.

Today, Ella is thriving, full of life, and a true inspiration. Her journey is a powerful reminder of what expert care, compassion, and hope can achieve.

We are so proud to have Ella as our CMN Champion this year and grateful to her family for sharing her story. Keep an eye out for more on Ella in the year ahead! 💫

Ella Schmaelzle is many things: creative and energetic third grader, loyal friend, beloved daughter, and (unlike most kids her age) champion for the patients of Baystate Children’s Hospital!

Ella was born 13 weeks early and spent 89 days fighting for her life in the NICU. Today, she’s helping other children by advocating for donations to Baystate Health, the place that gave HER a chance to grow.

We were thrilled to welcome UMass Amherst Chancellor Javier A. Reyes to Baystate Children's Hospital recently! During his visit, Chancellor Reyes toured the hospital with Dr. Di Guglielmo, Chair of Baystate Children's Hospital. Lidya Rivera-Early, Executive Director of Government Relations and Springfield Partnerships for Umass Amherst, also joined the tour.

This visit highlights our longstanding partnership with UMass and their annual Dance Marathon, held each April to raise funds for our hospital. Dance Marathon is part of Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, of which Baystate Children’s is a proud member. Each year, UMass students fundraise and organize this exciting event to support our patients and programs.

Since 1991, Miracle Network Dance Marathon programs have raised over $350 million nationally - and we’re excited to continue working with UMass Amherst to help set up their Dance Marathon for future success!

We are incredibly grateful to Belchertown High School for raising funds in support of the Child Life Program at Baystate Children’s Hospital through their amazing FOCKEY game (Field Hockey vs. Football) held in October!

This special event was organized by Dina Brunetti in honor of 8-year-old Jason - and we were so excited to have Jason join us recently as our official “Slime Day Helper” at the hospital! 💚✨

Thanks to the admissions, raffles, and the fan-favorite duck pluck, this wonderful community came together in such a meaningful way to support the Child Life team and the work they do to bring comfort, play, and healing to kids receiving care at Baystate Children’s Hospital.

Thank you to the organizers, athletes, families, and everyone who contributed. Your generosity truly makes a difference.

A new BJ’s has come to town! 🎉

BJ's Wholesale Club has officially opened its new location on Boston Road in Springfield, MA. To celebrate, they generously donated $9,500 to Baystate Children's Hospital to support toys for our pediatric patients and for children served through our community health centers. They also provided funding for meal vouchers for pediatric patients and families to use while visiting the hospital.

We are incredibly grateful for BJ’s generosity and wish them tremendous success at their new Springfield location! 💙
