We thank the sponsors, donors, and 150 guests who made our Foundation's first major charity gala since 2019, Vision of Excellence, a resounding success. It was a night filled with tears, joy, and generosity.
After sharing the need to expand several in-demand service lines, the EHS Foundation announced plans to launch a Strive for Five capital campaign. Through Strive for Five, they aim to raise $5 million in five years to help support the expansion of the Effingham Cancer Care Center, Effingham Pediatrics Center, and our Senior Living Community.
Summit Cancer Care, which provides medical treatment for Effingham Cancer Care Center patients, was the Presenting Sponsor for the evening.
The highlight of the evening was heartwarming personal stories from recent patients about their care and treatment at Effingham Health System and Effingham Cancer Care Center for life-threatening illnesses. Their message was, "Please support this campaign. You never know when you will need their services."
During the gala, EHS Foundation President and local business leader James Carlson presented a significant donation to Effingham Cancer Care Center. As part of that donation, Mr. Carlson, with his wife and daughter, Liz and Brianna, unveiled a gorgeous bell for the cancer center. The bell is in memory of the Honorable Frances Y. Seckinger for her 38 years of dedicated service as probate judge.
As a tradition, cancer patients ring the bell when they complete their cancer treatment. They share this joyful experience with their providers, staff, family, friends, and other patients they have befriended along their treatment journey.
