Show your kids that breaks aren't a sign of weakness—they're a sign of strength. 💪 When you need a moment, say, "I'm feeling stressed, so I'm going to step away for a few minutes to take a break." This teaches your child that it's healthy to take space to regulate emotions.

Life is full of little let-downs, and learning how to navigate those moments is a key life skill for our kids! 💔
The brilliant minds at Nat Geo Kids shared some super helpful tips on helping children deal with disappointment. It’s all about giving them the tools to manage their feelings, not just shielding them from every bump in the road.
Here are a few takeaways we loved:
✅Acknowledge their feelings: It's okay to feel sad or mad!
✅Set realistic expectations: A little heads-up goes a long way.
✅Model healthy coping: Our kids are always watching how we handle things!
✅Practice soothing techniques: Deep breaths, anyone? 🧘‍♀️

🍁Remember to listen without judgment and validate their feelings, even if you don't fully understand their choices. This builds trust and ensures they feel accepted and valued for who they are, not what they produce.
🍁This means setting clear, consistent boundaries around essential safety issues, but picking your battles on smaller things like hair color or music choices. Allow them the freedom to make low-stakes mistakes and learn from them.
🍁Your stable presence and unwavering love helps to support them as they navigate challenges and build resilience.

Halloween is full of spooky fun! 🎃 But for some kids, anxiety can get triggered by costumes, masks, and scary things. Keep it playful and low-pressure. Focus on the fun of costumes and candy, and remember that it's okay if they want to sit some parts out. Respect their boundaries and have a great, safe holiday!

Meet the Staff

At Bloom In Counseling, we believe that every child has an innate ability to heal and master difficulties they encounter, but at times they need special help to aid them through it. I am a strength oriented therapist with over 13 years of experience empowering children to move through their challenges while learning useful strategies to add to their personal tool box.

I'm a licensed professional counselor and Registered Play Therapist who specializes in working with children and adolescents experiencing difficulties with anxiety, depression, self esteem, emotional regulation and life transitions.

I work collaborative with parents to tailor the treatment to the needs of the individual child. I utilize play therapy, creative arts, person-centered, cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma informed care in my practice. I am a warm and energetic therapist who would welcome the opportunity to meet you at my private practice in Springfield, NJ.
