Conner was recently named Firefly’s Direct Support Professional of the Year. This spring, that recognition continues at the national level!

Through the ANCOR American Network of Community Options and Resources National DSP of the Year Awards, local work is connected to a broader effort: improving support, strengthening the workforce, and honoring the people who make community living possible for individuals with disabilities.

We’re proud to see Conner’s work represented as part of that national conversation, and proud of the team beside him doing the same work here every day.

Recognition may travel nationally, but the impact still lives right here at home.

We’re proud to have shared the day with Community Support Services of Missouri and Chances of Hope. Collaboration strengthens services, relationships, and opportunities for the people we support every day.

We’re heading into February at the Joplin Day Program with heart-healthy fun, friendship, and lots of ways to stay active and creative. ❤️

Here’s what’s coming up:

🥣 Feb 5 Make heart-healthy snacks in Cooking Class

❤️ Feb 6 Wear red for National Wear Red Day

🐞 Feb 9 Create a Heart Ladybug craft

💌 Feb 10 Decorate Valentine bags

🧩 Feb 11 Complete pattern activities

💕 Feb 12 Design a paper plate heart wreath

💃 Feb 13 Celebrate at the Valentine’s Day Dance (1:00 p.m., festive/dressy casual; refreshments provided)

🤝 Feb 16–18 Build friendships with cut & paste projects, beaded bracelets, and social skills activities

🍕 Feb 20 Take a trip to Incredible Pizza in Springfield (Reminder: The cost is $21 per person, due by Feb 18.)

🐦 Feb 23–26 Explore Winter Bird Week

🎤 Feb 27 Sing karaoke and celebrate February birthdays

All month long, we are staying active through Walking Club, giving back by collecting and delivering recyclables, and supporting the Webb City Senior Center through Meals on Wheels deliveries.

🎬 Movie in the Auditorium– January 9 at 1:00 p.m.

❄️ Arctic Habitat Project on display in the Lobby – January 16

🛷 Sledding crafts, snowball math, and winter-themed lessons all month long

🍪 Lemon Crinkle Cookies in Cooking Class – January 30

El Dorado Springs Day Program is kicking off 2026 with a month full of creativity, movement, and winter fun! ❄️

Here’s what’s ahead this January:

🎳 Bowling in Stockton – January 6 & 27 ($6)

🎨 Crafts, trivia, and hands-on activities like “Raincloud in a Jar,” snowball art, and frozen balloon experiments

🎤 Karaoke, Disney trivia, and Minute to Win It in the auditorium

🎂 Birthday celebration on January 30

The fun’s already in motion, and we can’t wait to keep it going all month long!

The Springfield Region recently hosted its annual winter holiday party, featuring a Polar Express theme! We came dressed in our favorite pajamas, enjoyed the photo booths, and celebrated together.

We were grateful to welcome State Representatives Melanie Stinnett and Stephanie Hein For Missouri, who took time out of their day to attend and share meaningful conversations with our Firefly community. Their presence meant a great deal to everyone involved.

Thank you as well to Nixa Meal Prep Co. for providing a wonderful meal and desserts that helped make the day special. We appreciate all who helped make this event a memorable and joyful celebration!
