The Arc of Union County’s Early Intervention Program is approved by The NJ Early Intervention System (NJEIS), which is administered by the NJ Department of Health. Eligibility for Early Intervention is determined based on a comprehensive assessment and developmental delays. The areas of development include gross motor, fine motor, language, cognition and self-help. For more information, download a free brochure from NJ’s Early Intervention System. Or, to obtain information about NJEIS or a referral, please contact the statewide toll-free number: (888) 653-4463.

At The Arc of Union County, we partner with families to assist their children from birth to 3 years of age to achieve developmental milestones. Once a referral is made by the NJEIS, an evaluation will be scheduled and if your child is determined to be eligible, an initial Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) will be developed. Based on those recommendations, we can provide practitioner referrals, and help you obtain appropriate services for your child and family.

Room 1 participated in a hike w/the Trailblazer Club, an activity organized by The Arc of New Jersey and held at the Trail Center in Mountainside. The hike was led by 2 staff members from The Arc of NJ. Individuals successfully hiked well over a mile while engaging in conversations with the staff and enjoying the natural surroundings. Along the way, they met a friendly turtle on the trail, affectionately nicknamed "Mr. Turtle." Everyone had a great time being outdoors and benefited from the physical activity and social interaction.
