In addition to adoption awareness month, it is also Men's Mental Health Awareness Month. Men are less likely to seek help for mental health, substance use, or compulsive gambling. The impact is significant, as men account for nearly 80% of self harm resulting in death according to the CDC.
Encouraging open conversation, normalizing emotional awareness and vulnerability, and promoting access to supportive services can make a big difference.
Key Resources are the dial/text 988 Su***de and Crisis Lifeline, Illinois Warm Line (866-359-7953), and the Illinois Helpline for Opioids and Other Substances (833-234-6343). There are also your local behavioral health organizations that offer counseling, support groups, and wellness programs.

Tree of Wishes will be starting the day after Thanksgiving! We are in a new location this year, near center court and the Wintree Wonderland at White Oaks Mall. There are 10 local agencies participating this year with a variety of wish list cards for people ranging in age from newborn to 113 (yes 113!) years of age.
If you are unable to make it to the mall and still want cards, please contact Family Service Center at fsc@service2families.com and we can make arrangements for you to get them!

Beginning Wednesday, November 5, The Outlet and Vision, LLC. will open our doors for a Community Table; a place where everyone belongs and gets a hot meal.

No questions. No judgment. Just a warm meal and a welcoming seat at the table. Because hunger doesn’t discriminate and neither do we.

Join us every Wednesday during the month of November from 5:00–6:30 PM for good food, good company, and community. As the need grows, we will look at adding more days.
