πŸŽ‰πŸ  When it opened in 1946, the Mary Bryant Home welcomed seven residents. Just two years later, it expanded and moved to 107 Lawrence St. in Springfield, Illinois, to accommodate 20 women. Nursing services were added in 1950, and in 1960 β€” thanks to strong community support β€” the home relocated to a larger facility at 1100 South Fifth St. and began serving men and women.

Throughout our 80th anniversary year, we’ll share stories from our past and highlight the legacy of our namesake, Mary Bryant. Follow along for weekly throwbacks as we celebrate 80 years of service, independence and community β€” and share your favorite Mary Bryant Home memory in the comments.

πŸŽ‰πŸ  This year, the Mary Bryant Home is celebrating its 80th anniversary of serving the blind and visually impaired community. As we mark this meaningful milestone, you may be wondering how the Mary Bryant Home got its start.
