🍂✨ Yesterday’s Fall Creative Expression Class was full of color, creativity, and joy! Our patients let their imaginations shine by making beautiful fall trees with tissue paper and markers. 🌳🍁

From rainbow leaves to blooming cherry blossoms, every tree was unique—just like the artists who created them. 💛💜💚

We love seeing how art inspires self-expression and brings everyone together. 🎨🖌️

📚✨ Last week, our CEO, Alyssa Ingle, had the incredible opportunity to step into a new role—Principal for a Day at Jeffries Elementary School—through the Springfield Public Schools, Springfield, MO initiative.

From greeting students and connecting with staff to experiencing the daily energy of the school community, Alyssa witnessed firsthand the passion and dedication that make Jeffries such a special place. 🐾💛🖤

We are grateful to SPS for creating opportunities that strengthen partnerships between schools and community leaders. And a big thank you to Jeffries Elementary for welcoming Alyssa and sharing a day in the life of a Jaguar! 🐆✨

Yesterday, members of the Perimeter Behavioral Hospital team had the opportunity to attend the State of the State event hosted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce. Our CEO, Alyssa Ingle, VP Regional Director, Barb Radebaugh, and VP of Business Development, Erica Fox, were all in attendance to hear directly from Governor Mike Kehoe.

Governor Kehoe shared valuable insights into recent legislation, upcoming bills, and the outlook for Missouri in the coming year. It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with other local leaders and businesses committed to strengthening our community.

We’re proud to represent the behavioral health field and continue advocating for accessible mental health care across the state. 💙

Today we were honored to attend the Springfield Public Schools Back to School Bash! We connected with over 5,000 students and families, sharing valuable resources on mental health, stress coping skills, and self-care strategies to start the school year strong. 💪💙

Our team had the opportunity to educate the community about Perimeter’s programs and how we serve local children and adolescents in need of behavioral health support.

And let’s not forget the highlight of the day… our kinetic sand station was a huge hit! 🌀🙌

Here’s to a healthy, hopeful school year ahead!

This morning we had the pleasure of attending the Good Morning, Springfield breakfast hosted by the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

It was an insightful morning filled with meaningful discussion about legislation and budget decisions that directly impact businesses in our community. We also heard exciting updates about doctoral programs being offered at Missouri State University—a key step in retaining top talent right here in the Ozarks.

A big thank you to Representative Betsy Fogle and Senator Lincoln Hough for being present and participating in a thoughtful panel that gave us a deeper understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our region.

We’re proud to be part of conversations that shape the future of our local economy and workforce!

🌟 Meet Our Director of Quality, Risk and Infection Control, Michelle Hilton Belk! 🌟

With over 32 years of nursing experience, she brings a wealth of knowledge from nearly every corner of the healthcare field. Her journey has included long-term care, hospice, elementary school nursing, rehabilitation hospitals, developmental and intellectual disability programs, and case management—and that’s just the start!

Though mental health nursing wasn’t her original path, she’s now spent over two decades dedicated to caring for those with mental health diagnoses across all ages and settings. She’s held her Psychiatric & Mental Health Board Certification for over 10 years and continues to grow and evolve in her field.

Now, she’s leading the charge in quality, risk, and infection control at Perimeter, ensuring we provide safe, high-quality care every single day.

When she’s not at work, you’ll likely find her enjoying the great outdoors—BBQing, hiking, kayaking, gardening, or cheering on her grandkids at baseball and T-ball games. She and her husband keep busy with their big, beautiful family and plenty of travel adventures!

We’re so proud to have her on our team. 💙

As May concludes, let’s reflect on the pressing mental health challenges facing our children and adolescents. The statistics are a stark reminder of the work ahead:

• 1 in 6 U.S. youth aged 6–17 experience a mental health disorder each year.

• In 2023, over 5.3 million adolescents (20.3%) aged 12–17 had a diagnosed mental or behavioral health condition, with anxiety (16.1%) and depression (8.4%) being the most prevalent.

• Only about 51% of youth with a mental health condition receive treatment in a given year.

• 22% of teens have seriously considered attempting su***de .

These numbers underscore the importance of proactive engagement:

• Check in regularly with your children and teens. Open, honest conversations can make a significant difference.

• Be vigilant for signs of distress, such as changes in behavior, mood, or academic performance.

• Educate yourself and others about mental health to reduce stigma and promote understanding.

Remember, help is always available. If you or someone you know is struggling:

Check out these incredible sensory tactile boards created by some of our neurodiverse patients!

These boards are more than just fun art projects—they’re tools that support self-regulation, sensory exploration, and emotional expression. Each texture, color, and shape was thoughtfully chosen and placed by the youth in our care as part of our sensory-based therapeutic programming.

Let’s keep celebrating the strengths and talents of our neurodiverse community!
