I read this and it is so fitting how I feel about one of the essentials of 99:1. Building trusting relationships! I have heard others speak of clients! (I know a lot of therapist and have been a nurse a LONG time so I have heard and see ALOT) It devastated me as a child of God, a person and a healthcare professional! If you need someone to talk to confidentially... you and I will be the only ones knowing that conversation! Unless YOU choose to tell YOUR story! Guaranteed!

Always remember that it’s no small thing for someone to open up and get vulnerable with you. It’s no small thing for someone to share their struggles. It’s no small thing for someone to let you in on their pain, or their fear, or their dreams, or their joys, or the parts of themself they normally keep tucked away.
It’s no small thing for someone to say “I haven’t told anyone else this, but...”
And it’s not that you’re about to get some juicy gossip, or that you’re going to be the first to know the drama. Whatever secrets they choose to spill out and pour on the table between you two aren’t for you to gobble up and discuss later that night through group text, and they definitely are not for casual conversation at your next girls night.
It’s no small thing for someone to TRUST YOU.
Be worthy of that trust. Make room for their truths. Honor their friendship by carrying their burdens and keeping your mouth shut.
It took a lot for them to unclench their fist and let go of that piece of their heart, and would take about ten total seconds for you to ruin it all and unravel everything with your criticism, judgement, and loose lips.
Don’t be the reason somebody believes the worst in friends. Don’t be the reason somebody stops sharing. Don’t be the reason somebody closes themself off from the beautiful gift of sisterhood.
It’s no small thing for someone to trust you.
Love,
Amy
