: In diagnostic imaging, a passive approach isnโ€™t an option. The โ€œworkstation approachโ€ is designed to do one thing above all else: encourage a decision.

Instead of relying on uncertainty, this method requires radiologists to synthesize the available information and commit to a definitive diagnosis for every case. As Dr. Linver explains in this clip, this creates a shift from passive observation to active engagementโ€”a mental discipline that helps maintain clinical focus and clear diagnostic reasoning.

Put your โ€œMRI hatโ€ onโ€”but donโ€™t take your โ€œMammogram hatโ€ off.

Transitioning to Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM) is more than a technology shift; itโ€™s a change in clinical mindset. One of the biggest early challenges for radiologists is navigating the interpretation gap.

Weโ€™re used to MRI findings presenting with clear, immediate enhancement. CEM is different. Cancers often appear in a more โ€œcloud-likeโ€ or subtle manner. A practical approach: interpret the images like a mammogram that is enhancing, while thinking through them as you would an MRI.

Watch the video below for more.

In dense breast tissue, standard mammography sometimes tells only part of the story. Contrast-Enhanced Mammography (CEM) can help bridge that gap, combining the familiarity of a mammogram with the vascular insights of MRI.

By highlighting neoangiogenesis, CEM can reveal diseaseโ€”such as satellite lesionsโ€”that may not be visible on standard imaging. It can support surgical planning and clinical decision-making by providing a more complete picture.

Diagnostic confidence can be strengthened when standard imaging is supplemented with additional modalities.

: In breast imaging, mastery isnโ€™t just about repetition; itโ€™s about the quality of the feedback loop.

How can we support clinical confidence? By integrating immediate feedback into the diagnostic workflow.

In this short clip, Dr. Christopher Comstock discusses how using iPads at their own individual workstation allows radiologists to immediately confirm normal cases or identify abnormalities as they review cases of DBT with AI, MR, CEM, and ABUS โ€”creating a high-intensity learning environment that helps radiologists recognize subtle findings.

Contrast Enhanced Mammography (CEM) can serve as a bridge between ultrasound and MRI.

In clinical practice, we often find ourselves balancing the accessibility of ultrasound with the high sensitivity of MRI. CEM may help address this gap, offering a balance of clinical insight and operational efficiency.

Watch this brief breakdown on where CEM may fit within your subspecialty toolkit.

Weโ€™re proud to feature Dr. Christopher Comstock as our latest for the upcoming 30th Mammography in Santa Fe Conference.

Dr. Comstock is a Professor of Clinical Radiology at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. He shares; during his fellowship in 1996, he participated in the University of Chicagoโ€™s case-based conference in Boca Raton, Florida. That experience shaped how he later structured the UCSD โ€œMammo in Mauiโ€ conferences and the MSKCC MRI course, among many others, and it continues to influence how he approaches Mammography in Santa Fe today.

The reason he is so excited about Mammography in Santa Fe is its unique hands-on workshops at the workstation, providing over 500 cases in Tomosynthesis (with AI), CEM, Breast MR, and ABUS. He is a strong proponent of this active learning approach, fueling his passion as a teacher and member of this world class faculty.
