The ideal composition of the fats that you consume is a complex subject. One thing is for sure, though; A diet too low in fats will severely affect your health, wellbeing, and performance.
Fats are vital for many more aspects than listed in the illustration. The proper absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K depends on sufficient fat intake. In other words, low-fat consumption leads to further nutrient deficiencies in the long run. Fat quality, of course, makes a huge difference.
My favorite fat sources are olives, avocados, salmon, eggs, butter, and fatty cuts of meat from high-quality sources. Like with every other nutrient, the key is to consume whole natural foods and avoid processed foods. Overheating fats, hydrogenated fats, and extracted fat that need massive amounts of energy for the extraction process doesn't have a place in human nutrition.
