It’s imperative that I surround myself with a group of women who are also doing their inner work. As a natural introvert and Projector in Human Design, I often find comfort in being alone, retreating into myself, and pilgrimaging solo. That served me for a while, but now my soul is calling for something deeper.
I’ve realized I need women—conscious, empowered women—who are on this journey too. Women who come together to help each other remember who we are at our core. This retreat reminded me of my power, the power that exists beyond my shadows. And I needed that reminder at such a deep level.
When I arrived home, I found a letter from my sister written three years ago, on my birthday. If you knew the history between us, the struggles we’ve faced most of our lives, this letter would move you. At the time, I couldn’t fully appreciate it, but now, it resonates with me in ways I didn’t expect.
In the letter, my sister wrote, “Of course God brought you into the world the day after spring began. He knew all the ingredients you had within you—fire, aliveness, strength, the ability to die and be reborn like the Phoenix with radiant wings. He knew what lit up your heart... family gatherings, BBQs in the backyard, afternoons in the park with your dogs. Of course, you were born in spring—you seek the light and are willing to be renewed day after day.”
Three years later, I’m reminded of that vision. And I’m seen—by my sister, by my community, by myself. Whether we realize it or not, others reflect back to us who we truly are. It’s up to us to see it, to feel it, and to embrace it.
So, I ask you: What are you reflecting back to the ones you love? To the ones you hold? And most importantly, to the one you see in the mirror each day?
You are powerful. You are seen. You are loved. Even when you can’t see it yourself, trust that it’s there.
