WHAT IS NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE?
Naturopathic Medicine is a health care profession that combines natural methods with modern science.
Naturopathic Medical Doctors (NMDs) are trained to address ailments and bodily dysfunctions at the level of the body, mind, and spirit. NMDs concentrate on healing the whole patient by addressing the root cause of illness, balancing the vital force, and improving weakened body systems. Naturopathic care provides individualized therapies that are evidence-informed that start with the least invasive most effective approach in order to help facilitate the body’s innate ability to restore and sustain optimal health.
NMD’s focus on lifestyle changes that is needed to thrive such as food, hydration, air, sleep, movement, and mentality. The belief of this medicine is that through education and the right conditions, the body will allow self-healing.
In the state of Arizona, Naturopathic Medical Doctors are trained as primary care providers who diagnose, treat and manage patients with acute and chronic conditions, and care for all patients regardless of age, gender, or race. They are trained in a broad spectrum of modalities and therapies including nutrition, lifestyle, supplements, botanicals, homeopathy, constitutional hydrotherapy, pharmaceuticals, minor surgery, physical medicine, and acupuncture (although many of these therapies are limited in the state of Michigan). Naturopathic medicine is safe and cost-effective.
