The good news? You can check for it at home in seconds.

The Finkelstein Test 🔎

1. Make a fist with your thumb tucked inside your fingers.
2. Gently bend your wrist toward your pinky finger.
3. The Result: If you feel a sharp pull or pain along the thumb side of your wrist, your tendons are likely inflamed.

How to Find Relief

• The 20-20 Rule: Every 20 minutes of phone use, take a 20-second break to stretch your hands.
• Ice It: Apply a cold pack to the base of the thumb for 10-15 minutes to reduce swelling.
• Switch Your Grip: Try using your index finger to scroll or use voice-to-text to give your thumb a promotion to “Manager” (where it does less of the heavy lifting).
