Flourishing Lives

We help kids and families flourish through dedicated, child-led occupational and speech therapy. THERAPEUTIC FUN: We use therapy, disguised as play.

Our team empowers children to reach their full potential, focusing on individual strengths and goals in a nurturing environment for lasting growth. At Flourishing Lives we use play to develop gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and challenge our patients to adapt to an ever-changing sensory environment. We help them process things that they don't understand and cannot communicate. Trauma, anxiety, sensory aversion, or any kind of problem that is hindering a patient's daily life can be greatly improved with a highly trained occupational therapist, who can help them process things on a physical level that they may not be able to understand on an emotional level. A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF OUR UNIQUE OT TREATMENT APPROACH

TRUST: We build a safe therapeutic relationship with the patient and their family to facilitate open communication at the clinic and at home. EMPOWERMENT: We use patient driven, therapist guided activities to empower patients to take responsibility for their healing while we develop the patient's ability to process sensory input. In this positive environment, we are able to get to the root of the problem with less resistance from the patient. Flourishing Lives was established as Sensory Systems Clinic by Sandra Glovak, OTR/L in 1982.

One of the most meaningful moments from the conference 💛

This is Erica, our incredible biller at Flourishing Lives, with Tony Award winner and disability advocate Ali Stroker during the book signing.

What makes this moment extra special is that Erica isn’t just a theater lover. She has been actively involved in advocating for accessibility in Michigan theaters. Sitting in a room listening to Ali speak about access, representation, and refusing to be the first and last, and then getting to meet her, was powerful in a way that can’t be scripted.

This conference reminded us that advocacy does not live in just one role. It shows up in billing, in therapy, in leadership, in the arts, and in the quiet work of making systems more accessible for everyone.

So grateful for team members like Erica who bring their whole selves, their passions, and their advocacy into the work we do every day. And so grateful for voices like Ali’s that continue to push all of us to do better, think bigger, and build spaces where access is expected, not requested.

This is why we go to conferences. This is why representation matters. And this is why we keep showing up.

Our Rochester clinic is open, and we’re celebrating with an Open House and Ribbon Cutting, February 9, 2026 from 3:00–6:00 pm, with the ribbon cutting at 4:00 pm hosted by Rochester Regional Chamber of Commerce.
