Columbia Youth Camp 2025 – Our Biggest and Best Yet!🍎

We’re thrilled to share that this year’s Columbia Camp was a huge success! With 30 campers, it was our largest group yet.

Our campers had an unforgettable experience filled with outdoor adventures, community exploration, and exciting learning opportunities. It was a joy to watch friendships form, curiosity grow, and memories being made.

Our hardworking nurses make an impact on our clients and programs EVERY DAY!

Meet Kyle, a nurse at our North Adult Day Services program. Kyle shared a recent experience he had with a client, Zach.

He shared, “I had several conversations with a client in which he indicated he was wanting more ‘guy time.’ He expressed that he loves his caretakers but feels that he doesn't have enough of an outlet in terms of just hanging out and being one of the guys.”

Kyle inquired with staff about the logistics of taking Zach to Dave & Buster’s one night and was able to facilitate an afternoon trip. Since it was just the two of them, Zach was able to let loose a little, enjoy a couple of sodas, and play video games. Kyle and Zach spent most of their time defeating Jurassic Park, which they agreed was the highlight of the trip! Kyle said, “The smile stretched across his face the entire time was priceless.”

Kyle enjoys that he can help clients meet their goals or provide more social outlets for them to live life to the fullest by “simply doing his job.”

The Missouri History Museum is hosting a sensory-friendly program tonight, Wednesday, September 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The event will feature self-guided tours, interaction with Duo dogs, storytelling, guided tours of exhibits, a music performance, sensory bins, Reggio-ABA activities such as finger painting and rock painting, resource tables, and snack options.

Our Adult Day Services clients enjoyed their annual trip to Kemp Lake!🐟

Kemp Lake provides an inclusive experience to individuals with disabilities that allows them to hunt and fish on this private and fully accessible property!

Kemp Lake is owned and operated by the Fred M. Kemp Foundation. Fred and his team of volunteers took some clients out on their incredible breakaway docks (equipped with a motor), while some clients preferred to fish from dry land. An extremely successful fishing day was had and many fish were caught and lots of laughs were shared!
