Community Health-In-Partnership Services (CHIPS) provides the framework for three wellness delivery systems:
• CLUB CHIPS Youth Leadership and Peer Health Educator Training
Through these systems CHIPS provides a protective umbrella that covers uninsured and underserved people that fall through the traditional health care safety net. Under this umbrella, previously undiagnosed disease is identified and treated.
Access to free health care at CHIPS helps residents manage chronic disease, secure and take medications as prescribed and resolve medical and mental health issues that have made it difficult for them to have a productive life.
At CHIPS HEALTH AND WELLNESS CENTER Charitable Clinic at 2431 N. Grand Boulevard in St. Louis, the services provided include
*Primary and preventive health care for adults and children.
*Psychiatry and counseling.
*Dental Care.
*Women’s Health and Breast Care.
*Men’s Health.
*Asthma/Allergy.
*Chiropractic.
*Vision Care.
In 2016, uninsured, low income patients received 13,314 health services in the clinic. Chronic Disease support groups were attended by 471 people.
CHIPS’ HEALTH CARE BEYOND WALLS Community Outreach Program takes free health screenings, health education and referrals with follow-up to places where low and moderate income people gather. Participants that have abnormal blood pressure or blood sugar results, or that have special needs, are referred to their personal physician or clinic, or to CHIPS for further assessment.
In 2016, CHIPS Health Care Beyond Walls program conducted 106 health screening events in St. Louis City and North County. 3,554 health screenings were provided to 1,366 individuals.
CLUB CHIPS is a youth leadership development program established in 2001 that trains urban youth to be peer health educators and performing artists. This is a four year paid training program for high school students. Over 100 teens age 14-18 have participated for at least one year since the program began in 2001. All of them graduated from high school. All students that were in CLUB CHIPS two years or more pursued post secondary education. CLUB CHIPS takes health and wellness messages to other youth, teaching them through drama, movement and song to cope with life's challenges.
In 2016, 1,896 individuals participated in CLUB CHIPS training and presentations.
