Pharmacist Feature Friday!

Jasmine Crouzet, PharmD, RPh, is a licensed and registered pharmacist who completed her education at the University of Southern California in 2019. She previously worked in retail pharmacy for 4 years but now works in the clinical setting via telehealth providing recommendations and expertise on medication use in patients living with chronic disease, elderly patients, patients living with mental illness, pregnant women, and pediatric patients.

Jasmine also reviews pharmacogenetic reports (like if you have non-functional copies of CYP2C19 and are therefore a poor metabolizer of Clopidogrel) to make recommendations for therapy change to the prescriber. It’s amazing the impact that clinical pharmacists have!

In 2021, she welcomed her son via emergency c section. He was born premature and stayed in the NICU for 32 days. She then founded The Medication Mama to provide modern day moms with a community of support, education and resources on safe medication use before, during, and after pregnancy. She hopes her platform will help lessen the stigma and misconceptions around taking medication.

You can connect with Jasmine at , she started her platform only a few months ago and is already receiving so much support from other moms and pharmacists 💜

Happy National Pharmacy Week! Tell your pharmacist or pharmacy staff thank you today!

I’m sorry I’ve been so MIA lately on this page. I’ve been super busy on my main page (.stl ) so give me a follow over there to keep up with me day to day. I still love supporting my fellow pharmacists so feel free to tag me or send me posts and I’ll try my best to engage with all of them.

I love Pharmacy week because at my hospital it means free food 😆 but also it’s the one time every year where I feel like we are appreciated as a group. As mostly behind the scenes healthcare workers (especially hospital pharmacy) we often go unrecognized by patients and even fellow healthcare workers. Even though it’s not intentional it can definitely feel like a thankless job at times.

Long story short- whether you visit a retail pharmacy or if you work in a hospital, tell your pharmacists and pharmacy staff THANK YOU this week because I know they’ll appreciate it and we definitely don’t hear it enough ❤️

You get one life to live- don’t spend it doing things that don’t align with who you are and who you want to be. After these past two years in healthcare I definitely feel the need to look over my bucket list again and start checking things off. Anyone else feel this way too?

Tara Thompson is a pharmacist and patient advocate in the field of s*xual health. She recognized the lack of pharmacist education, as the drug experts, in the field of s*xual medicine and knew she could make a difference. She created her website, www.thes*xualhealthpharmacist.com as well as her Facebook and Instagram pages with the same name, in order to bring education to the public surrounding s*xual medicine and the drugs involved in a patient's pathway of care. Her passion is treating, counseling, and educating patients and providers alike about men's and women's s*xual health conditions ranging from vulvodynia and interstitial cystitis to erectile dysfunction and Peyronie's disease.

Tara has been a practicing compounding pharmacist for 10 years at in the field of s*xual medicine, developing and designing pharmaceutical drug combinations for various s*xual health conditions. She collaborates with providers nationwide who practice s*xual medicine. She is working toward her s*x educator certification through AASECT, which she hopes to complete by 2021. She also co-developed an advocacy panel called "justASK!" which hosts different s*xual health experts on a monthly basis to encourage patients to ask any questions surrounding s*xual health. She is a supporter of the LGBTQ community and also an advocate of mental health and the fight against s*xual trauma and trafficking. Tara is currently researching and gathering evidence for drug treatment protocols in the field of transgender medicine. As a pharmacist, Tara feels like she brings another element of care to the healthcare team, in terms of drug decisions, strengths, and dosing. In her spare time, she love to cheer on the Atlanta Braves, kayak the Etowah River, and build forts with her kids. Follow her for more at *xualhealthpharmacist

Success is within. It’s not measured externally by others. Success can only be realized about yourself, and that can be a tough pill to swallow. I love this quote by Maya Angelou because it explains this so well. If you’re trying to gain success in everyone else’s eyes, you’ll be trying forever. If you like yourself, what you do, and how you do it, you’re already a success.

As someone who doesn’t have a lot of patience for slow progress, I need to remind myself of this. Take everything one day at a time and if necessary, one hour at a time. Just do the next best thing and it will make the process less stressful.

This week I’m working on a project that is beyond my scope but not outside my comfort zone if that makes sense. I’m working on building a website for my travel itineraries and foodie recommendations. Some of you who don’t follow my main page .stl might not know that I’m a food enthusiast… but I am. I also really enjoy planning detailed travel itineraries for myself and might do it for others in the future.

For now I mostly post about St. Louis restaurants and local activities on IG but I’m hoping to make it more worldwide eventually. Anyway follow along if you’re into travel and restaurant recommendations too!

Kristina Kozlovsky is a Canadian hospital pharmacist currently working on a general medicine and telemetry unit. 🇨🇦🏥 She also runs her account .assist , which she started as a way to educate herself and others, highlight the role of the hospital pharmacist, and connect with other health care professionals.👩🏼‍⚕️💊

Kristina had an interesting path to where she is today. She graduated from the University of Waterloo PharmD program in 2018 🎓 shortly after which she began a residency program in the Medical Affairs department at Sanofi Pasteur. 💉She had the opportunity to return to hospital and work in the ICU covering a maternity leave (which also happened to be during C-🦠!). She now works in medicine, and also sits on the Medication & Therapeutics committee 💊which allows her to make a positive impact hospital-wide with policies and pre-printed orders, and blends her enjoyment of pharmacy and project work.💻

Follow her at .assist for more!
