Let’s talk about something that doesn’t always get the spotlight in fertility care: Environmental factors and how they can impact your reproductive health.

Every day, we’re exposed to substances called endocrine disruptors—chemicals that can interfere with your hormones. Over time, these exposures may affect:
◾️Egg and s***m quality
◾️Ovulation
◾️Hormonal balance
◾️Even your response to fertility treatments

Common culprits include:
◾️ BPA (found in some plastics and canned foods)
◾️Phthalates (often in personal care products, like fragrance or vinyl)
◾️Pesticides and industrial chemicals

The good news? You don’t have to overhaul your entire life to make a difference. Swipe for five easy, but meaningful swaps!

Remember, no one can eliminate all exposures—but being mindful adds up, especially when you’re preparing your body for pregnancy.

Knowledge is power—and we’re here to help you take charge of your health, one small change at a time.

This weekend, I hit the track... and pushed way past my comfort zone. 🏁

I had the absolute thrill of joining Women on Wheels at the Worldwide Technology Raceway for a high-performance driving education event. Think: classroom meets racetrack, where we learned how to handle cars at high speeds (yes, over 120 mph!) safely, confidently, and with a whole lot of adrenaline.

I’ve never done anything like this before. It was exhilarating, empowering, and honestly, a little terrifying in the best way. We weren’t just pushing cars to their limits, we were pushing ourselves.

As someone who’s used to navigating high-stakes decisions in medicine, this was a whole new kind of challenge. And I loved every second of it.

Huge thanks to and the for creating such a supportive, high-energy space for women to learn, grow, and drive like pros.

Not every fertility journey starts with IVF and not every journey needs to.

One of the most important things I remind my patients is this: IVF is not the first (or only) step. In fact, many patients aren’t ready for IVF right away and that’s okay. That being said, it might very be the first and only step.

When we first meet, our goal is to understand your unique story. That includes:

◾️ Your age and how long you’ve been trying
◾️ Cycle regularity and ovulation patterns
◾️ Your partner’s s***m parameters
◾️ Testing for uterine or tubal factors
◾️ Your timeline, goals, and comfort level

Once we’ve completed your fertility work-up, we may begin with less invasive, lower-cost options like: Ovulation induction with oral medications

Timed in*******se with cycle monitoring Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

We always aim to find the right path for you—balancing success rates, emotional impact, and the treatment plan that feels right.

If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed or unsure if IVF is your next step, take a deep breath. There are often several steps before we ever talk about egg retrievals or embryo transfers.

We always aim to find the right path for you, balancing success rates, emotional impact, and the treatment plan that feels right.

You may be wondering, what does “natural” mean in the case of natural cycle frozen embryo transfers?

Simply put, a natural cycle frozen embryo transfer uses the body’s own hormonal signals (without added estrogen or suppression meds) to prepare the uterine lining for embryo implantation.

Instead of medication to control your cycle, we monitor your natural development of follicles which produce the hormones needed for a transfer, then time the embryo transfer to align accordingly.

✨ Why some patients love natural cycle transfers:

◾️Fewer medications = fewer side effects

◾️Feels more in sync with the body

◾️Lower risk of certain complications like high blood pressure in pregnancy (per some exciting new research)

◾️May be ideal for patients with regular ovulatory cycles who want a more minimalist approach

It’s not right for everyone, and it still involves monitoring, and usually more monitoring than a more programmed approach but for the right candidate, it can be a wonderful option. Success rates are the same for both natural and programmed approaches.

If you're preparing for a frozen embryo transfer and want to explore your choices, we’re here to walk you through the pros, cons, and what’s best for your body.

Let’s talk about AMH levels... what they mean (and what they don’t).

AMH stands for Anti-Müllerian Hormone. It’s a hormone secreted by cells in your ovarian follicles, and it gives us an estimate of your ovarian reserve—aka how many eggs you might have remaining.

Sounds simple, right? Not quite.

Here’s what your AMH can tell us:
◾️A general idea of how your ovaries may respond to stimulation (like during IVF)
◾️If your egg supply is considered low, average, or high for your age
◾️Whether we need to move faster in your fertility plan using a tailored approach

But here’s what your AMH can’t tell us:
◾️Your egg quality
◾️Whether or not you can get pregnant
◾️Your exact number of eggs
◾️When you’ll go through menopause

In short: AMH is a helpful puzzle piece but it’s not the whole picture. At STL Fertility, we combine AMH with other tests (like antral follicle count (AFC), hormone panels, and your full health history) to get a clear, complete view of your fertility potential.

So if you’ve seen your AMH number and you’re feeling overwhelmed, know this: it’s just one tool we use to build a plan that works for you. And we’re here to walk you through every step.

Yesterday was all about real talk, big questions, and even bigger confidence. 💪

I had the absolute joy of joining for their “Let’s Talk Puberty” session—an open, honest, and empowering conversation with a group of curious, thoughtful pre-teens.

We covered everything from body changes to busting myths, and most importantly, reminded these girls that knowledge is power. Puberty can feel awkward, but it doesn’t have to be scary when you have the right information and support.

Huge thanks to Girls In The Know for creating such a safe and uplifting space for these important conversations. I’m already looking forward to next time!

Is it just bad luck… or is something being missed?

Let’s talk about unexplained infertility.

It’s one of the most frustrating diagnoses because it doesn’t feel like a diagnosis at all. You’ve done the tests. Your cycles are regular. Your partner’s s***m looks fine. Your tubes are open. Your hormones check out. But you’re still not pregnant—and no one can tell you why.

Here’s what I tell my patients at STL Fertility: Unexplained infertility doesn’t mean we’re out of answers. It just means we haven’t found the right one yet.

There are still many steps we can take whether it’s making subtle adjustments to the timing of ovulation or moving forward with treatments like IUI or IVF that can overcome microscopic barriers we simply can’t detect with current testing.

And thanks to advances in IVF with preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) and uterine receptivity evaluations, what was once unexplained may soon become understood.

Getting ready for IVF? Let’s talk about what to do before your cycle officially begins.

The truth is, IVF involves so much more than just medications and procedures. Preparation matters—and while you don’t have to be perfect, being intentional can make all the difference. Here’s a quick pre-IVF checklist I walk through with my patients at STL Fertility:

📋 1. Complete diagnostic testing.
Bloodwork, ultrasounds, and other diagnostics help us tailor your protocol and give you the best chance for success.

💊 2. Review your medications + supplements.
Make sure you’re on a prenatal vitamin with folic acid, and let us know if you’re taking anything else so we can avoid interactions.

🥦 3. Focus on nutrition + movement.
Nourish your body with whole foods, stay hydrated, and move in ways that feel good (not punishing). Think anti-inflammatory, not extreme.

🧘‍♀️ 4. Protect your peace.
Fertility treatment can be emotionally taxing. Now’s the time to build your support system, whether that’s therapy, acupuncture, journaling, or just a go-to friend who “gets it.”

🗓️ 5. Get on the same page with your care team.
At STL Fertility, we walk through your full plan before you start so you know exactly what to expect and feel confident every step of the way.

IVF can feel overwhelming. But preparation doesn’t have to mean pressure. Take it one step at a time. You’ve got this — and we’ve got you.

Let’s talk about something that doesn’t always get the attention it deserves: implantation failure.

When an embryo transfer doesn’t result in pregnancy, it can be heartbreaking—and confusing. You’ve done everything “right,” and still… nothing.

The truth? Implantation is one of the most complex and least predictable steps of the fertility journey. Even a genetically normal embryo needs just the right environment to successfully attach and grow.

Potential causes include:

🧬 Embryo-related factors (such as chromosomal abnormalities)

🩺 Uterine issues (like polyps, fibroids, or scarring)

🧠 Immune or inflammatory conditions

📉 Thin or unreceptive endometrial lining

The good news: we can investigate many of these possibilities with testing like saline sonograms, endometrial biopsies, ERA and/or Receptiva testing, or with empiric treatment for those conditions which cannot be reliably tested—and tailor your next cycle accordingly.

At STL Fertility, we believe in leaving no stone unturned when it comes to understanding why an implantation might not have occurred—and more importantly, what we can do next.

You are not alone in this.

Let’s talk about exercise and fertility—because yes, it’s possible to do too little and too much.

When it comes to trying to conceive, moderation really is key. Regular movement can help regulate hormones, improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and even promote more regular ovulation. In short: it supports your overall reproductive health.

When it comes to trying to conceive, moderation really is key. Regular movement can help regulate hormones, improve insulin sensitivity, reduce inflammation, and even promote more regular ovulation. In short, it supports your overall reproductive health.
But extreme or intense training—especially if it leads to low body fat or missed periods—can have the opposite effect, disrupting the delicate hormone signals that make ovulation possible.

So what’s the right balance? Aim for:
✅ 30–60 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week

✅ Mix in strength training + low-impact cardio

✅ Focus on how your body feels (not just how it looks)

And if you’re ever unsure what’s right for you, we’re here to help guide you—your treatment plan should reflect your whole body, not just your lab work.

04/15/2025

When it comes to fertility, timing plays a key role—but it’s not just about ovulation. If you’ve been trying to conceive for six months without success (or sooner if you have irregular cycles, a medical history of pelvic or groin surgeries, or past treatments like radiation or chemotherapy), it’s a good time to seek care. The best-case scenario? Everything looks great, and you keep trying naturally. The other possibility? We identify something early that we can address, increasing your chances of success.

As for timing in*******se, the key is not to overcomplicate it. S***m can survive for several days, while an egg is only viable for about 24 hours after ovulation. That’s why having s*x in the days leading up to ovulation, plus the day of and possibly the day after, provides the best chance for conception. There’s no need to stress about daily in*******se—having s*x at least twice during that fertile window is enough!

At the end of the day, your fertility journey should work for you and your relationship. There’s no single "right" formula—only what feels right for you. 💛
