'When the Walgreens at No. Kingshighway Blvd., and Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis’ Penrose neighborhood shuttered its doors on March 27, 2025, it was more than just a store closing.

The abrupt end to the pharmacy located within the state meant that many of its customers, including seniors who have difficulty finding transportation, would have to travel more than four miles to the nearest Walgreens.

Other national pharmacies have also recently closed, creating a “pharmacy desert.”

GreaterHealth Pharmacy and Wellness has a remedy, though. It plans to open a new location soon to serve its nearby neighborhoods...'

Exciting!

Major Moves for Greater Health Pharmacy

The Community Development Association (CDA) recently awarded $600,000 to St. Louis's only Black-owned pharmacy to build a new location in North St. Louis. This new site aims to assist residents affected by the closings of Walgreens, ensuring that the community retains access to vital pharmacy services. Additionally, residents can already begin transferring prescriptions online and are eligible for free home delivery services.

We would like to thank the Ray Vandiver, CEO of Saint Louis Science Center, for inviting our team to the VIP Reception for the Pompeii exhibition! It was amazing and we even created some ideas about how to integrate public health themes into new experiences at the Saint Louis Science Center!

Many of those impacted by the Tornado are our patients and we are boots on the ground with our partners! Thank you KMOV for stopping by and checking in.

Shoutout to our partners Operation Food Search who is helping us provide non-perishable food to those in need, University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis and In the Door for providing pharmacy students and student workers to increase our capacity to help more people, and Central Baptist Church for providing co-pay assistance for those who need financial support.

As storm victims recover, many are without medical care and prescriptions.

We are excited to partner with Operation Pathways: St. Luke's Plaza!

Our partnership bringings quality pharmacy services to St. Luke's Plaza apartments through our Residential COUNSELMEDS program. Residents receive free home prescription delivery and comprehensive medication education and counseling, without having to leave the building.

Our goal is to make pharmacy care accessible to all people, especially those who need it most! Let us know if there is a residential community that may benefit from these services!
