We’re proud to share that our Founder and CEO, Marcus Howard, co-authored a nationally recognized article addressing the emerging crisis of pharmacy deserts and their disproportionate impact on vulnerable residents throughout St. Louis City—cutting across all demographics.

The article underscores the urgent need for this work not only in St. Louis City, but across the state of Missouri, and continues to motivate our team’s commitment to expanding access and supporting those most in need.

This year, we were proud to partner with the Washington University in St. Louis's School of Public Health and Aging Ahead to bring in-home vaccinations directly to older adults across Missouri. Our team traveled throughout the state to help keep older Missourians healthy, safe, and supported—especially during the holiday season.

'When the Walgreens at No. Kingshighway Blvd., and Natural Bridge Road in St. Louis’ Penrose neighborhood shuttered its doors on March 27, 2025, it was more than just a store closing.

The abrupt end to the pharmacy located within the state meant that many of its customers, including seniors who have difficulty finding transportation, would have to travel more than four miles to the nearest Walgreens.

Other national pharmacies have also recently closed, creating a “pharmacy desert.”

GreaterHealth Pharmacy and Wellness has a remedy, though. It plans to open a new location soon to serve its nearby neighborhoods...'
