So excited to have just gotten this published, as a resource to add to the conversation about TREATMENT OPTIONS for FERTILITY:
https://eppc.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/03/3-A-Surgical-Approach-to-Treating-Endometriosis.pdf

Bypass treatment with IVF is NOT the only way to have a baby.
ROOT CAUSE treatment, removing the actual disease and optimizing the anatomy - or a RRM Restorative Reproductive Medicine Approach - is a viable approach that can lead to WELLNESS and FERTILITY, which I strongly believe are related.

This important consensus document on the treatment of endometriosis came out yesterday and is available here, in collaboration with the Endimetriosis Summit:

Hopefully, this is an important part of changing the narrative, educating patients and helping to make more available and accessible best practices for treatment of endometriosis as a disease.

Am grateful to be part of this effort.
Spread the word.

Happy New Year and blessings to all!!

This year is very special in that I will begin practice at Veritas Fertility & Surgery (www.veritasfertility.com) in town.

The opportunity to focus on offering comprehensive fertility services - medical and surgical - in a streamlined fashion, without IVF, is a dream come true.

We are in this together.

My wife had 1 surgery to remove her advanced endometriosis, and 5 surgeries for adhesions.
I have learned so much from her/our journey and experience. This is precisely why at surgery, we will combine the best of optimal excision of endometriosis with the best of adhesion prevention.

The opportunity to give back and pay forward what we have received is the reason to take this step.

You are not passed over.

I have learned that there is a story and a plan for every woman suffering from infertility, and I am here to tell you that you are not forgotten.

Our job is to set the table and to offer it up, and to walk with you on your journey.

On this first day of the year, I am humbled for the opportunities and blessings that will surely happen, and grateful for the answers, healing, and restoration that the new year will bring.

About to give a talk at 50th Global Congress of the AAGL.

Going to discuss why important to excise even surface endometriosis.

Grateful to be here in person, and part of such a distinguished faculty.

Personal vignette

I often say to patients that we are all in this together, which is absolutely true.
My wife had painful periods her whole life, and after a year of trying for pregnancy, she said maybe I have endometriosis. I didn’t want to believe it.
She had advanced Stage IV endometriosis with giant endometriomas on both sides, and we were told that she would never get pregnant but through IVF.
She had (one) optimal excision surgery for endometriosis, and (several) other surgeries for adhesion prevention, and now she feels great and we have had recurring fertility without ever needing IVF. I have learned so much from her and our own journey.
The chance to give back and pay forward what we have received, in a more comprehensive and streamlined way for patients, is the main motivation for joining Veritas Fertility & Surgery here in St. Louis (starting January 1, 2022).
Pregnancy rates with this restorative fertility approach are well above industry standards, and patients will usually get answers to underlying causes affecting fertility, often feel (much) better (which is good for pregnancy), with the chance for recurring fertility.

As I transition from over a decade (14 years) in academic practice to private practice, over the next few weeks I plan to put out weekly important takeaways from the database and publications we have produced pertaining to our experience and research on optimal excision surgery for endometriosis, and adhesion prevention, for fertility.
So stay tuned!!

I hope everyone is well.
There have been a lot of changes over here with moving house, getting over Covid, and finalizing a significant move in clinical practice that I am excited to announce.

This is good news for patients!

Starting at the beginning of the year, January 2022, I will be joining Veritas Fertility & Surgery to offer patients more comprehensive, effective and streamlined medical and surgical treatment for fertility, without IVF.
In surgery, I will continue to offer the best of optimal excision and adhesion prevention in the treatment of all stages of endometriosis, from minimal (teenagers) to advanced, for (future) fertility (with or without pain).

With this restorative fertility approach (incorporating NaProTechnology), patients get answers to the underlying factors leading to infertility, often feel better when these factors are addressed (e.g. endometriosis), and can lead to recurring fertility.

See the following for patients who have shared their stories of healing and blessing, and to find out more about the practice:

TIP OF THE ICEBURG!!

Even at surgery, it is not obvious at first glance that there is a deeper 4.5 cm nodule.

This case is SO important to illustrate the following KEY points:
Longterm hormonal suppression does NOTHING to prevent endometriosis or progression.
The importance of preoperative planning - this patient had shaving and then still required a segmental bowel resection - including having a colorectal present and not to be rushed.
Even at surgery, one cannot always tells which surface lesions go deeper.
That optimal excision is superior for deep disease but even for (widespread) surface disease.

Did a Tough Mudder this weekend to be 1% better for my patients and my family.

Was tougher this year because of the cold and wet.
Offered up for all my patients who are trying to get pregnant or who have chronic pain.
You all are fighting every day, and you are not alone.
