Personal vignette
I often say to patients that we are all in this together, which is absolutely true.
My wife had painful periods her whole life, and after a year of trying for pregnancy, she said maybe I have endometriosis. I didn’t want to believe it.
She had advanced Stage IV endometriosis with giant endometriomas on both sides, and we were told that she would never get pregnant but through IVF.
She had (one) optimal excision surgery for endometriosis, and (several) other surgeries for adhesion prevention, and now she feels great and we have had recurring fertility without ever needing IVF. I have learned so much from her and our own journey.
The chance to give back and pay forward what we have received, in a more comprehensive and streamlined way for patients, is the main motivation for joining Veritas Fertility & Surgery here in St. Louis (starting January 1, 2022).
Pregnancy rates with this restorative fertility approach are well above industry standards, and patients will usually get answers to underlying causes affecting fertility, often feel (much) better (which is good for pregnancy), with the chance for recurring fertility.
As I transition from over a decade (14 years) in academic practice to private practice, over the next few weeks I plan to put out weekly important takeaways from the database and publications we have produced pertaining to our experience and research on optimal excision surgery for endometriosis, and adhesion prevention, for fertility.
So stay tuned!!
