The last new years resolution diet I went on was in 2021
After “failing” the diet I went into the biggest shame spiral & binge
Then I found intuitive eating
I thought intuitive eating was a type of gentle diet
And I quickly learned intuitive eating is a non-diet approach to health & does not focus on intentional weight loss
For the first time in 15 years I wasn’t on a diet-binge cycle 🔁
For the first time I actually wanted to be healthy & not just skinny (because the two are not synonymous)
For the first time I respected my body & even started to like parts of it
For the first time I understood that my binge eating & sneak eating was brought on by restricting and was my body’s natural biological response to starving myself
For the first time I learned how to better cope with my emotions
➡️ For the first time I realized nothing was wrong with me & everything was wrong with diet culture
Intuitive eating helped me beat binge eating, accept my body, & become the healthiest version of me
It helped me so much I decided to become an intuitive eating counselor to pull others out of diet culture & into their best selves
