Throwback on this COLD day to the Teton Science School. I dug out my silk long underwear from this Teton adventure for this incredibly cold weekend. It has me thinking… 1. How does clothing survive this long? (Great investment-thanks, Mom) 2. My first time seeing mountains was with friends, after a 36 hour bus ride with no screens. And it was magical! 3. Deep breath and embrace the fun that comes with the unknown of these wild weather weekends. What are you looking forward to this weekend?

Tuesday Tip-Be a Good Loser. Oh you may be laughing about this one, but some people really struggle at this important life skill. Accepting the outcome, congratulate the victor, learning from your mistakes are all a key to losing. Each loss provides an opportunity to build strategies to grow for the next opportunity. I have to remind myself of this each time my child beats me at a board game (I haven’t won in MANY months!) Are you a good loser?

A sweet thank you from the Olivette Turkey Trot and the wonderful volunteers at the Harvey Kornblum Jewish Food Pantry. We were proud to have sponsored the Olivette Turkey Trot this year, which raised over $31,000 for our community food pantry. The food pantry serves people in 72 zip codes across the city and county! Looking forward to sponsoring again in 2026

Spotted this beautiful quote while walking around the Brown School of Social Work this weekend. I’m teaching a course on Communities and Organizations and have such a dynamic group of thoughtful students. This quote resonates deeply with me during these troubled times.

Book Number One of 2025-Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Atmosphere tells the fictional tale of the astronauts of the 1980s NASA program and their race to space. It’s a story about love, sacrifice, feminism, ambition, and secrets. It was number one for me in 2025 because I couldn’t put it down. I hope you found some favorites this year, too.

Book Number Three of 2025-Isola by Allegra Goodman. This historical fiction novel is inspired by a true French noblewoman, Marguerite, and I was blown away by her tale of survival and resilience as she is ripped from her home country and eventually abandoned on an island in the New World. It was unlike any book I’ve read because it’s not a time and place I often hear or learn about. Themes include survival, love, loss, and revenge. This book is definitely for true lovers of historical fiction.
