Gus Gear

Gus Gear Custom covers for central lines, ostomy pouches, feeding tubes, and more. I am Sarah, mother of 2 and founder of Gus Gear.

When my son, began his medical journey in 2007, I had no idea what was in store for us! The addition of a GJ tube, cecostomy, ostomy, and central line all happened over time and I had to find a way to keep Gus safe. The biggest challenge I faced was his central line because that is a life and death issue. I created the central line wrap to keep his line locked down and safe not only from accidenta

l pulls, but from his fingers as well! Gus Gear’s product line includes central line wraps, ostomy pouch covers, line covers, and covers for other items like Farrell bags and urine bags. Everything Gus Gear makes has been used by us on a daily basis at one time or another. In this way, I have been able to personally critique and improve each cover to make it not only attractive, but functional. Each item is hand crafted with attention to detail. Gus Gear is constructed with quality fabrics that, when properly cared for, will hold up over time. I am very proud of and pleased with these wonderful products and am sure you will be too.

One of the things our community told us loud and clear: comfort matters just as much as function. So we went back to the drawing board to make our vest more breathable and gentler on sensitive skin.

Asking for help isn’t easy, especially when you’re used to being the one holding everything together. But the truth is, none of us were meant to do this alone.

If you’re caring for a child with medical complexities, the weight can feel even heavier. Between wanting things done “just right” and feeling like you should handle it all, asking for help can feel uncomfortable…even impossible at times.

In our latest blog, we share 5 practical ways to get better at asking for help—from starting small to building your own “support team” and learning to quiet that inner critic.

Most people will never fully understand what it means to parent a child with a chronic or life-threatening illness.

The anticipatory grief. The isolation. The relentless, fierce love. For some, that journey also includes loss.

Gus Gear was built from inside this community — because we live it too. We exist to improve the safety and quality of life for those with medical challenges, and to change the stigma around central lines, ostomy bags, G-tubes, and other medical “extras.”

This Mother’s Day, we honor every caregiver — those showing up each day, and those carrying love and memory forward.🤍

During Oncology Nurses Week, we recognize a group of professionals who show up every day for patients navigating some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. Not just with clinical expertise—but with presence, patience, and an ability to meet people exactly where they are.

Caring for someone—or living with a lifelong medical condition— can be overwhelming in ways that aren’t always visible to others.

During Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to acknowledge the moments where the weight feels heavy and you’re doing your best to keep going.

If you’re in one of those moments, here are a few gentle reminders:

• You are not alone. There are others navigating similar paths, even if you don’t see them every day.
• It’s okay to ask for help. Whether it’s a friend, a clinician, or a support group—support is part of care, not a sign of weakness.
• Take small breaks where you can. Even a few minutes to reset can make a difference.
• Share your story, when you’re ready. Your experience matters and it can help others feel less alone, too.
• Give yourself credit. The care, patience, and resilience you show every day is not small.

You are doing something incredibly important!

This Earth Month, we’re proud to highlight our eco-friendly packaging from EcoEnclose, LLC.

From kraft mailers & custom shipping boxes to EcoBand product wrapping, and Gus Gear stickers on zero-waste recyclable liners (yes, really!), each order is thoughtfully packaged in material that is 100% recyclable and plastic-free.

We take a minimalist approach to packaging because we believe less waste is simply the better way forward.
