Kumaran Chinnappan MD,FACS,FRCS,FASMBS is an American Board certified Surgeon and Fellowship trained in Bariatric Surgery.He has performed hundreds of laparoscopic bariatric surgeries.He has been awarded the Center of Excellence (COE) surgeon status by the American Society of Bariatric Surgery. Dr. Kumaran graduated from University of Madras, Madras Medical College in Chennai, India in 1994. After graduation, Dr. Kumaran pursued advanced surgical training in India, London and Singapore and USA. He was awarded the SLS Outstanding Laparoendoscopic Resident Award by the Society of Laparoendoscpic Surgeons. He is certified by the American Board of Surgery and is a member of the American Society of Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons (ASMBS) and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, London, UK and fellow of ASMBS. Dr. Kumaran is married and has two children. His interests include basketball and tennis.
