Nayla was born at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Hospital 14 years ago. She recently stopped by with her mom and little sister for a special visit. It has been a while since we last snapped a photo together back in 2012!

Watching our tiniest patients grow up is one of the greatest joys of what we do. Thank you for stopping by and brightening our day. You've grown with Glennon in the most beautiful way!

What is a Fetal Arrthmia?

Arrhythmias, abnormal or irregular heartbeats, can happen while babies are still in the womb. Some types of irregular and abnormal heartbeats are relatively benign and will not affect the baby at all; others can be life-threatening.

If your doctor suspects an arrhythmia after reviewing your routine ultrasound, he or she may request a fetal echocardiogram (echo), an ultrasound of the fetal heart. This shows the structure of the heart and helps determine the type of arrhythmia. It can help us confirm the diagnosis and discuss possible options for treatment.
